We are currently looking for an OBD Test Engineer to join our team in Farmington Hills, MI.

This role will be responsible for validating Nissan powertrain OBD systems through testing. The main responsibility is to ensure compliance with US OBD II regulations, and OBD quality for US market ICE, HEV, and diagnostic quality for ZEV vehicles according to project timing. This includes support for special vehicle tests, fleet tests in extreme environment conditions, and OBD system communication tests. The OBD test engineer will also support OBD certification, regulation interpretation, process improvement, in-use compliance, industry bench marking, and investigation of ZEV OBD quality issues during vehicle development.

Job functions include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with engineers & technicians for testing of vehicles in accordance with Nissan procedures to meet regulation and performance targets
  • Validate Nissan monitor parameters through on-road testing
  • Test coordination with multiple functions within Nissan
  • Analyze test data for judgment confirmation
  • Propose test efficiency & testing method procedures
  • Report findings to management in a clear & concise manner through technical reports

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree Mechanical or Electrical in engineering
  • 1-4 years relevant work or project experience
  • Work experience of internal combustion engines and engine control systems
  • Basic understanding of US OBD II and ACC II regulatory requirements is a big plus
  • Software Skills: MS Office Suite, MATLAB/Simulink, Calibration tool such as INCA
  • Understand emissions control and/or OBD monitoring concept, design and calibration
  • Have basic understanding of powertrain control strategy and emissions technology
  • Understand testing and validation method for control and diagnostic systems
  • Have a keen interest in new automotive technology development
  • Have an understanding of Hybrid/Electric applications related to powertrain functions
  • Be able to work in a global environment that involves various geographic locations, culture and time zones
