The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The CNA assists patients with activities of daily living, promotes patient comfort and safety, observes and reports changes in patient condition, and contributes to a positive patient experience while maintaining compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and ambulation.
  • Obtain and accurately document vital signs, height, weight, intake and output, and other assigned clinical data.
  • Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests.
  • Assist with patient transfers using proper body mechanics and safe patient handling equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.
  • Observe, report, and document changes in patient condition to the licensed nurse.
  • Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.
  • Collect specimens as directed.
  • Stock patient care areas and maintain adequate supplies.
  • Support infection prevention and control practices, including proper hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide high-quality, compassionate care.
  • Participate in unit-based initiatives, education, and quality improvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 Preferred QualificationsMinimum QualificationsEducation
  • High school diploma or GED required.
Licensure/Certification
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained within organizational guidelines.
Experience
  • Previous acute care or long-term care experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and pull throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and transfer patients using proper equipment and techniques.
  • Ability to work 8-hour shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed

Skills Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification
  • Basic Life Support certification
