The Nurse Operations Manager performs a variety of administrative and nursing duties in supervising and caring for patients from minor treatment to acutely ill in a one-of-a-kind, free-standing outpatient facility, providing easy access to unscheduled care. This hyper-efficient delivery of Emergency Medicine Specialty Services combined with outpatient facilities efficiently provides high quality care that can yield lower ER visits, lower hospital admissions, and create savings.

  • Build relationships with patients and employees and help support a culture of passion and enthusiasm.
  • Perform meaningful growth meetings with RN’s and PCC’s on a routine basis.
  • Identify areas of improvement that will result in the meeting or exceeding of organizational quality metric goals.
  • Adhere to and positively promote all protocols.
  • Oversee and coordinate maintenance of all equipment in the clinical area.
  • Completion of checklists and assigned tasks by deadlines.
  • Generate clinical staff schedule ensuring it is fair (all requests for time off considered, no one staff member working unreasonable number of shifts in a row, etc.) and all shifts are covered.
  • Coordinate and provide oversight of the training of the clinical team members to include providers, lab team, and radiology techs during the clinical portion of training.
  •  Professionally and expertly represent GEMD during surveys related to the clinical area (DOH, COLA, AHCA, JC, etc.)
  •  Participate in QA/PI activities.

    •  Room Turn Over Audits
    •  Other audits as dictated by the FL or VP of Clinical Operations
  •  Maintain quality standards by updating protocols as needed, making recommendations based on current best practices, bringing to the attention of the facility leader any unsafe practices, etc.
  •  Ensure the workflow of the clinical area during the workday, addressing any issues/challenges.
  •  Provide oversight to the inventory process to include ordering, addressing back orders, submitting inventory updates in a timely manner.
  •  Work with FL on Employee Health initiatives
    •  TB testing
    •  Hepatitis B Immunizations
    •  Flu Vaccine administration
  •  Other activities as assigned by the Facility Director or Operations Leadership.
  •  Provide oversight to the linen ordering process.
  •  Manage the ordering and proper disposal/return of medications in accordance with DEA regulations.
  •  Continuous education and training of the team on new or updated processes/equipment.
  •  Active participation in the hiring and termination of the clinical team and in all departmental meetings.
  •  Serve as a strong resource for the staff and support the Facility Leader in their absence.
  •  Follow the information security policies and management system, contributing to their effectiveness, and actively reporting on their performance.
  • The NOM will also perform all responsibilities of the Registered Nurse Position.
Qualifications

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position currently supervises the clinical team.

Required Education

  • Associate’s Degree.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years nursing experience with 3 of those years in Emergency Medicine.

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Active Florida RN License.
  • Must be successfully credentialed within each facility through the routine privilege and credential process.
  • ACLS and PALS certifications.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug test.  
  • Proficiency with Windows-based computers and common programs such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other electronic communication.
  • Great positive communication skills (including the ability to proficiently read, write, and speak English)
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to perform the duties expected for an active role in a busy medical environment (standing, walking, teaching, public speaking, pulling, pushing, lifting, etc.)
  • Able to stand and work up to a 12-hour shift in the facility.
  • *** RN’s currently employed by or affiliated with medical marijuana clinics are ineligible for hire.
  • Ability to travel between local facilities (50-mile radius) to cover shifts as requested.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare Leadership/Management experience strongly preferred.

Languages

  • Advanced English is required.
  • Spanish and Creole are preferred.

Travel

This position requires the ability to travel between local facilities (50-mile radius) to cover shifts as requested.


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to work standing up, walk, use hands to operate tools and equipment and must be able to exert regularly up to 10 pounds of force, frequently exert 30 pounds of force and occasionally exert 50 pounds of force to constantly perform the essential job functions. The employee will be frequently required to reach with hands and arms, bend, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, and pull. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
 

Environmental Conditions

Inside: The employee is subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The worker is subject to noise; there may be sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.

Skills Required

  • Associate's degree
  • At least 5 years of nursing experience
  • At least 3 years of emergency medicine experience
  • Active Florida RN license
  • Successful credentialing and privileging at each facility
  • ACLS certification
  • PALS certification
  • Successful background and drug screening
  • Proficiency with Windows-based computers, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Advanced English proficiency
  • Ability to travel between local facilities within a 50-mile radius
  • Healthcare leadership or management experience
