As a Newly Qualified Social Worker within Wiltshire Council’s Kinship Team, you will play a key role in helping children remain safely connected to their family and support networks when they are unable to live with their parents. Working with kinship foster carers, Special Guardians and Private Fostering carers, you will help assess and support families, making a lasting difference to the lives of children and young people. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing service at an exciting time as Wiltshire Council has been selected as one of only seven local authorities to take part in the Department for Education’s Kinship Allowance Pilot.

Our Families and Children’s Service is committed to delivering high-quality, effective support to children, young people and families. As part of our supportive and friendly Kinship Team, you will build your social work skills in a rewarding environment where learning, development and positive outcomes are at the heart of everything we do. While the work can be challenging, it is also incredibly fulfilling, offering the chance to see the real impact of your support on children’s lives.

We are committed to helping you succeed from day one. You will be supported throughout your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) by a dedicated ASYE Development Manager, receive regular supervision twice each month, and benefit from ongoing guidance from experienced colleagues. A structured programme of training and development, led by our ASYE Co-Ordinator, will help you build confidence, strengthen your practice and develop the skills needed for a successful social work career.

If you are ready to take the first step in your social work journey and want to join a team that values, develops and supports its people, we would love to hear from you. Join Wiltshire Council and help shape brighter futures for children, young people and families across our communities.
