The NPI Supervisor is responsible for leading, developing, and managing the site NPI team while coordinating all New Product Introduction (NPI) activities within the manufacturing facility. This role serves as the primary liaison between customers, program management, engineering, supply chain, quality, production, and other supporting functions to ensure successful product launches, transfers, pilot builds, and production ramp-ups. The NPI Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership, establishes team priorities, monitors performance, and drives employee development to build a high-performing organization. In addition, the role drives cross-functional execution, monitors project milestones, identifies and mitigates risks, and ensures operational readiness for volume production while meeting customer expectations for quality, cost, delivery, and overall project success. 

Key Responsibilities 

NPI Project Management 

  • Lead end-to-end NPI activities from project kick-off through mass production.  

  • Coordinate product transfers, pilot builds, engineering validation builds, FAI, ORR, and production ramp-up activities.  

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, trackers, and readiness plans.  

  • Monitor project status and drive closure of open action items.  

  • Escalate critical risks and issues to management in a timely manner.  

Cross-Functional Team Leadership 

  • Coordinate activities among Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering, Quality, SCM, Production, Warehouse, IT, and Customer teams.  

  • Facilitate regular NPI meetings and project reviews.  

  • Ensure alignment of project priorities across all functional groups.  

  • Drive accountability and ownership for project deliverables.  

Manufacturing Readiness 

  • Ensure BOM, routing, work instructions, tooling, fixtures, test stations, and production documentation are ready before builds.  

  • Coordinate manufacturing line setup and validation activities.  

  • Verify material readiness and availability for pilot and production builds.  

  • Support capacity planning and production ramp strategies.  

Customer & Program Support 

  • Act as primary site representative for assigned NPI programs.  

  • Interface directly with customers regarding project status, risks, and recovery plans.  

  • Support customer audits, readiness reviews, and milestone meetings.  

  • Ensure customer requirements are properly communicated and executed internally.  

Quality & Process Control 

  • Support FAI, process validation, qualification builds, and quality improvement activities.  

  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for NPI-related issues.  

  • Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and company requirements.  

  • Monitor key launch metrics and quality indicators.  

Continuous Improvement 

  • Identify opportunities to improve NPI execution processes.  

  • Develop best practices and standard operating procedures.  

  • Drive lessons learned activities following major product launches.  

  • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.  

Required Qualifications 

Education 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or related field.  

  • Equivalent manufacturing experience may be considered.  

Experience 

  • 5+ years of manufacturing, engineering, program management, or NPI experience.  

  • 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.  

  • Experience in EMS manufacturing environments preferred.  

  • Experience supporting product transfers and customer-facing projects.  

Technical Skills 

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production operations.  

  • Knowledge of NPI lifecycle, pilot builds, FAI, ORR, and production ramp activities.  

  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred).  

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and project tracking tools.  

  • Ability to analyze production, quality, and supply chain data.  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience supporting networking, server, telecommunications, or electronics manufacturing products.  

  • PMP certification or equivalent project management training.  

  • Experience working with global manufacturing sites and cross-regional teams.  

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
