Position Summary:

The North American Senior Strategic Pricing Analyst is responsible for developing and executing strategic pricing initiatives across the United Staes, Canada and Mexico that drive profitable growth, competitive market positioning, and pricing excellence. Leads competitive price indexing, market analysis, pricing optimization, and advanced analytics to support business objectives. Provides strategic pricing recommendations through the use of data-driven insights, technology, and AI-enabled tools.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Work with Sales, Category Management, and business leaders to improve margin and pricing effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain strategic pricing models and pricing frameworks.
  • Lead competitive price indexing initiatives and monitor market pricing trends.
  • Analyze pricing performance, customer purchasing patterns, and market conditions to identify opportunities for profitable growth.
  • Work with Leadership to develop and execute detailed pricing strategies.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and analytical tools to support pricing decisions.
  • Utilize advanced analytics, business intelligence platforms, and AI-enabled tools to support pricing optimization and decision-making.
  • Conduct competitive benchmarking and market basket analyses.
  • Maintain pricing records and market intelligence data where necessary.
  • Provide strategic pricing recommendations and present findings to key stakeholders.
  • Support pricing governance initiatives and continuous process improvements.
  • Occasional travel within North America is required.
  • Read, understand, and follow Vallen’s health, safety, and environment policies and all applicable OH&S legislation/regulations
  • Actively participate in Vallen’s health and safety management system, including training, audits, assessments, safety meetings, and inspections
  • Identify, control, and report workplace hazards including following WHMIS/TDG requirements and reporting near misses
  • Report workplace injuries immediately and participate in any return-to-work programs or requirements
  • Be fit for duty and physically capable of performing all required tasks
  • Other duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • College/University Degree required (Business, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related discipline preferred)
  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in pricing, commercial analytics, financial analysis, revenue management, or related fields.
  • Experience developing and implementing strategic pricing initiatives in a distribution, industrial, manufacturing, or B2B environment preferred.
  • Experience with competitive pricing analysis, price indexing, and market intelligence.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence business decisions through data-driven recommendations.
  • Experience using business intelligence platforms, advanced analytics, and AI tools in a commercial environment.
  • Regularly evaluates complex market, customer, competitive, and financial information to support strategic pricing decisions.
  • Leads complex pricing analyses that impact profitability, market share, and competitive positioning.
  • Decisions affect pricing strategy and business performance across multiple customer segments and product categories.
  • Requires frequent application of advanced analytical thinking, independent judgment, and problem-solving skills in a dynamic market environment.
  • Utilizes data, technology, and AI-enabled tools to identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and recommend pricing actions.
  • Must understand priorities and make decisions based on both short-term business requirements and long-term strategic objectives.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including modeling, analysis, and database tools.
  • Strong knowledge of Power BI and other business intelligence tools.
  • Experience utilizing AI-enabled tools and technologies to improve productivity, analysis, and decision-making.
  • Knowledge of pricing methodologies, competitive analysis, forecasting, and data visualization preferred.
