Senior Associate - Insurance Coverage (Garden City, Long Island)
Weber Gallagher has an immediate attorney opening for a NY licensed senior associate to join our insurance coverage/litigation group. Our New York practice has experienced exponential growth over the last year, and we are searching for another great addition to our team in our Garden City office. We are looking for someone with 7 to 10 years of experience in third-party insurance coverage.
The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to develop and maintain a good relationship with clients. Weber Gallagher’s NY offices operate on a hybrid basis. A weekly regular presence in either our Garden City or NYC/Manhattan office is required.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse caseload from inception through resolution.
- Draft pleadings, answer written discovery, take depositions, and participate in arbitrations and trials.
- Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to develop sound case strategies.
- Communicate with clients, the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel.
- Provide regular and timely updates to clients on case status, strategy, and potential outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with partners, associates, and legal staff.
- Manage a book of business while adhering to billing and budget requirements.
- Ability to travel for court, client meetings, etc.
Requirements:
- 7-10years of experience in insurance coverage.
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- NY bar license, active and in good standing, required.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills with clients, judge, co-counsel and opposing counsel.
- Proven track record of success in courtroom appearances, depositions, and settlement negotiations.
- Proven track record of first chair trial experience through jury selection to verdict.
- Demonstrated interest in defense litigation.
- Clerkship experience, a plus.
- Work in the Long Island office in a hybrid setting.
