- Collaborate with the Executive Producer to plan and produce daily newscasts in accordance with newsroom standards, determining story selection, format, length, and rundown order.
- Write, edit, and update scripts as needed, including contingency planning for developing stories.
- Ensure all newscast elements are complete and accurate prior to airtime, including scripts, graphics, video, timing, and rundowns; maintain accurate information in newsroom systems.
- Communicate breaking news, live shots, and special situations promptly to appropriate staff.
- Produce digital content by writing and posting stories for the website and social media platforms; shoot and edit video as needed.
- Work collaboratively with reporters, anchors, photographers, assignment desk staff, and production teams to coordinate coverage and communicate updates throughout the shift.
- Manage live newscast execution from the control room, clearly communicating real-time changes to production staff and on-air talent.
- Respond effectively to breaking news and unexpected changes, ensuring stories are clear, accurate, engaging, and visually supported.
- Complete post-newscast administrative tasks, including technical reports and archiving.
- Participate in editorial and planning meetings, contributing daily story ideas and maintaining awareness of local, national, and global news.
