Primary Responsibilities:
In this role, you will be responsible for a wide range of content creation, including writing compelling stories and teases, editing video, for both linear and digital platforms. You will collaborate closely with producers to develop and format newscasts that maintain a fast-paced, engaging flow while acting as a vital communication hub between the assignment desk, reporters, photographers, and management to track story developments.
This position is also designed as a career growth track; you must be willing to train to produce full newscasts and serve as a fill-in producer when warranted by news management. Additionally, flexibility is essential, as you may be required to field produce, assist on the assignment desk, and respond to breaking news situations as they arise. Other duties will be assigned as deemed appropriate by the newsroom leadership.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: One to two years of experience as a TV Newscast Associate Producer or Producer in a small, medium, or major television market.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of the technical aspects of television news production is required. This includes mastery of newsroom computer systems—specifically AVID iNews and AVID Search—along with non-linear editing and graphics software.
- Editorial Judgment: A firm understanding of legal and ethical parameters for mass media is essential. You must have the ability to write clearly and concisely while maintaining accuracy under extreme deadline pressure.
- Problem Solving: The ability to remain calm and overcome both anticipated and unexpected changes during a live broadcast environment is a must.
- Flexibility: Candidates must be able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $33.65-34.52 per hour. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents.
