New Graduate Sonographer – PRN (As Needed)

Platte Valley Hospital | Brighton, CO

Pay Range: $32.02 – $49.44/hour
Dependent upon certification, license, and experience

We’re seeking a New Graduate Sonographer to join our imaging team in a PRN, as‑needed capacity—ideal for recent graduates or those completing an accredited ultrasound program who want flexibility while growing their clinical skills.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or modality‑specific competency in all clinical and technical functions
  • Ensure proper patient identification, verify orders, and prepare patients for exams
  • Perform exams according to department protocols and review images for quality, clarity, and accuracy
  • Adhere to all radiation or MRI safety guidelines and maintain a safe working environment
  • Complete studies within acceptable time limits without compromising patient care or image quality
  • Provide appropriate patient education, ensure patient comfort, and address patient concerns
  • Practice proper infection control and sterile techniques
  • Operate imaging equipment and related information systems to produce high‑quality diagnostic images
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions
  • Follow established protocols related to medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, quality control programs, and reporting equipment issues

Minimum Qualifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers
  • Applicable State License
  • MRI, Nuclear Medicine, or Ultrasound credentials applicable to scope of practice
  • One of the following:
    • Currently attending and receiving formal training from an accredited imaging program, or
    • Successful completion of formal training from an approved/accredited school, or
    • A licensed ARRT (R) technologist selected to cross‑train in another modality

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
