About this opportunity:
Ericsson's Networks Domain New Product Introduction (NPI) team helps bring new cellular and radio access network (RAN) products and solutions from development into customer environments. The team works with Ericsson Customer Units across Market Area Americas to design, integrate, validate, demonstrate, and troubleshoot solutions that are new to the market or to a customer.
As an NPI intern, you will work with experienced solution architects, engineers, product teams, and customer-facing organizations. You will gain practical experience in solution introduction, technical validation, network testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Previous NPI, telecom, or customer-facing experience is not required. We are seeking a motivated student pursuing a technical degree who is interested in cellular communications, wireless networks, systems integration, and emerging technologies.
What you will do:
  • Support the design and preparation of cellular and RAN solutions based on customer and project requirements.
  • Assist with the development and review of high-level and low-level designs, configuration information, test plans, test cases, and Methods of Procedure.
  • Support the integration and validation of new products, features, and solutions in laboratory, demonstration, and customer environments.
  • Participate in testing activities, document results, identify issues, and track actions to completion.
  • Assist with solution configuration, parameter reviews, software upgrades, feature activation, and other technical activities as assigned.
  • Help analyze network behavior, alarms, logs, test results, and performance data to support troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to fault isolation by collecting information, reproducing issues, documenting findings, and proposing potential workarounds.
  • Collaborate with solution architects, product management, R&D, delivery teams, Customer Unit teams, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
  • Support demonstrations, early product introductions, solution readiness activities, and customer trials.
  • Prepare technical documentation, test reports, presentations, diagrams, and status updates.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve solution introduction, testing, and troubleshooting through automation, scripting, data analysis, or AI-enabled tools.
  • Participate in technical meetings and provide clear updates on progress, risks, issues, assumptions, and next steps.
  • Develop knowledge of Ericsson's cellular and RAN portfolio, relevant industry standards, and solution introduction processes.

The skills you bring:
  • Currently pursuing, or recently completed, a bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Interest in cellular communications, wireless networks, RAN, telecommunications, systems integration, or network technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to understand technical information, investigate issues, and document findings clearly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to completing assignments accurately.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, tools, products, and processes.
  • Ability to organize work, manage priorities, and meet project deadlines.
  • Professional curiosity and willingness to ask questions, seek clarification, and accept feedback.

Preferred:
  • Coursework, academic projects, research, or personal projects involving wireless communications, networking, signal processing, software, systems engineering, or telecommunications.
  • Familiarity with cellular network concepts, including RAN architecture, radio technologies, coverage, capacity, performance, or network operations.
  • Exposure to LTE, 5G, Open RAN, private wireless networks, network virtualization, cloud technologies, or 3GPP standards.
  • Basic knowledge of IP networking, Linux, virtualization, containers, or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with scripting or automation tools such as Python, Bash, or Ansible.
  • Experience analyzing logs, test results, technical data, or system performance information.
  • Familiarity with version-control, collaboration, documentation, or issue-tracking tools.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, presentations, diagrams, or project documentation.
  • Previous internship, laboratory, research, or team-based engineering project experience.
  • Previous NPI, sales, telecom, or customer-facing experience is not required. Academic projects, laboratory work, research, leadership activities, and personal technical projects may provide relevant preparation for this internship.
