ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide network support for IPv4/IPv6, Segment Routing/MPLS, and Metro Ethernet networks
- Solve network and network equipment issues involving complex configurations
- Install, configure, upgrade, and repair Cisco routers, switches, and other data networking equipment
- Work with internal groups and vendors to ensure the network is successfully supporting a variety of network based applications such as Internet, VoIP, and Video
- Provide detailed and clear communications to management, internal groups, and customers
- Work to completion a variety of complex projects involving new equipment, services, or technologies
- Installation of IPv4/IPv6, Segment Routing/MPLS and Metro Ethernet customer networks
- On-call duties
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
Required
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Associates college degree in technical discipline or equivalent industry experience
- Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet, and data networking equipment
Preferred
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a related technical position
- Cisco CCNA or CCNP (Routing and Switching and/or Service Provider tracks)
- G.8032 Ring Architectures and Operations.
- Knowledge of the telecommunications industry with an understanding of current trends
- Knowledge of dynamic Internet routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and MPLS
- Experience in an Internet network environment
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Service-oriented individual with ability to respond to frequent and varying requests for technical support
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to set priorities and produce expected results with little direct supervision
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice
TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, AND SOFTWARE:
Required
- Must be able to proficiently operate Windows PC with Microsoft Office, Outlook and other associated applications
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred
- Experience with Cisco routers and switches
- Experience with Brocade routers and switches
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Indoor work in an office and controlled equipment environment
- Must be able to independently lift a minimum 40 pounds
- Some day and overnight travel throughout Iowa and other states
- Occasional weekend and/or night hours
