Island is the ideal environment for enterprise work, where security is everywhere without ever getting in the way.
The Island Enterprise Platform unifies AI enablement, network access, data protection, identity, and endpoint control into one coherent workspace—so organizations get universal visibility and control, and users get a fast, fluid, beautifully simple experience. It's not just a better way to secure work. It's a better way to work. Backed by investors like Coatue Management, Insight Partners, Sequoia Capital and Cyberstarts, and trusted by some of the largest, most respected enterprises on the planet, Island is redefining what the modern workplace can be.
Come join us in building something that's already changing how the world works, we’re always looking for world-class human beings (not resumes) to join the movement.
As a Network QA engineer, you'll own the quality of Island's Enterprise Network products: ZTNA, SWG, SASE, and VPN. You'll build the test frameworks that verify how traffic is routed, inspected, secured, and delivered across real enterprise environments, then use them to catch problems before customers ever see them. You'll also become a deep source of product and protocol knowledge, working shoulder to shoulder with our R&D team.
As part of this role, you will:
- Design, build, and maintain automated test suites for our network stack, covering ZTNA policy enforcement, SWG traffic inspection, SASE routing, and VPN tunneling, at both the end-to-end and component level.
- Grow our network test automation infrastructure, adding coverage for new features and hardening existing suites as the product evolves.
- Build and manage test environments that reproduce real customer topologies, including varied network conditions, identity providers, operating systems, and browsers.
- Validate performance, reliability, and security behavior under load, latency, and failure scenarios that mirror how enterprises actually run.
- Plan and execute manual testing for new releases where automation doesn't yet reach, and convert repeatable manual cases into automated ones.
- 5+ years in QA, with hands-on experience building test automation, not just running manual cycles.
- Strong understanding of network protocols and how traffic moves: TCP/IP, TLS, DNS, HTTP/S, proxies, and tunneling.
- Experience testing Client/Server and web-based applications across different browsers and operating systems.
- Comfort with automation frameworks and scripting (for example Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar), plus CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with web application debugging tools and packet-level analysis (for example browser dev tools, Wireshark, or mitmproxy).
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience testing security or networking products: ZTNA, SWG, SASE, VPN, CASB, or firewalls.
- Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerized test infrastructure.
- A degree in computer science or a related field.
