What this Job Entails:
The Network Operations Engineer III is a senior-level role that focuses on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of both optical and IP networks. This position demands a
high degree of independence, accuracy, and attention to detail. The engineer will address a wide range of complex network issues, working on diverse problems with minimal supervision.
This role requires a deep understanding of optical and IP networking, hardwaretechnologies, and network management tools.
Scope:
Resolve a wide range of network issues creatively and effectively.
Monitor the performance and health of optical and IP networks using advanced
network management tools.Tackle diverse and complex problems, applying sound judgment and innovative
solutions.Operate with minimal guidance on daily tasks, requiring only general instructions for
new assignments.Troubleshoot and resolve network issues to ensure minimal downtime and service
disruptions.
Your Roles and Responsibilities:
Network Management:
- Manage and optimize hardware technologies to maintain network performance and capacity.
- Engage in day-to-day troubleshooting, working with multiple vendor equipment, and resolving various software and hardware issues.
Issue Resolution:
- Address network traffic issues and respond to queries raised by XFNs and partners.
- Collaborate with XFNs and vendors to resolve network-related problems promptly and effectively.
- Conduct root cause analysis for network outages, providing detailed reports and solutions.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with service providers, colocation facilities, and XFNs globally, ensuring seamless network operations.
- Support network infrastructure projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams on new network initiatives.
Additional Duties:
- Take on other duties as required, contributing to the overall success and reliability of the network infrastructure.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) from a four-year college or university, with 5 to 8 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven experience in optical networking (DWDM, CWDM) and IP networking (IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, BGP, OSPF).
Strong judgment in selecting appropriate methods and techniques for obtaining network solutions.
Comprehensive understanding of fiber-optic technology, including cable types,connector types, optic types, patch panels, and optical transport technologies.
Experience in preparing root cause analysis reports for network and server outages.
Strong communication skills, capable of effectively working with global service providers, colocation facilities, and ISPs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a multi-vendor network environment.
Relevant network certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIP, OCA, orequivalent.
Physical Demand & Work Environment:
Ability to perform office-related tasks, including prolonged sitting or standing.
Capability to move within an office environment and effectively use a computer.
Must have strong communication skills for effective collaboration and coordination.
Occasional repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers may be required.
This position offers the opportunity to work independently on complex network operations tasks while playing a critical role in maintaining and optimizing a global network infrastructure.
Salary Range
$85,120.00 - $134,400.00 USD (Salary)- Please note that the salary information provided herein is base pay only (gross); it does not include other forms of compensation which may or may not apply to this specific position, namely, performance-based bonuses, benefits-related payments, or other general incentives - none of which are guaranteed, may be subject to specific eligibility requirements, and are wholly within the discretion of Astreya to remit.
