Leidos is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to provide senior-level engineering and technical support for in support of a Hybrid SATCOM program. The selected candidate will support the design, integration, configuration, optimization, sustainment, and troubleshooting of enterprise and mission-critical communication networks operating within classified environments.
The Networking Engineering Support position is responsible for providing network engineering and technical support. This role supports the planning, design, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of network infrastructure and related technologies to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient communications capabilities. Responsibilities may include developing network architecture specifications, performing needs assessments, evaluating and recommending new technologies, and supporting the installation, configuration, monitoring, testing, and servicing of network equipment and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, integrate, and maintain secure enterprise network infrastructures supporting government and defense operations.
- Support installation, configuration, and sustainment of routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless systems, and network management platforms.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and security while troubleshooting network and communication system issues across operational environments.
- Implement secure network architectures, redundancy solutions, failover capabilities, and continuity of operations requirements.
- Develop and maintain network documentation including diagrams, configurations, standard operating procedures, and technical implementation plans.
- Coordinate with cybersecurity, systems engineering, infrastructure, and operations teams to ensure compliance with security and operational requirements.
- Support network assessments, upgrades, modernization efforts, and technology refresh initiatives.
- Perform vulnerability remediation, patch management support, and security compliance activities in accordance with government policies and standards.
- Analyze network performance data and provide engineering recommendations to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Participate in technical reviews, customer meetings, operational planning sessions, and incident response activities supporting mission operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in network engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience; additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Experience designing, configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting enterprise network infrastructures within government or defense environments.
- Strong knowledge of routing and switching protocols, network security, TCP/IP, VPNs, firewalls, wireless technologies, and network monitoring tools.
- Experience supporting secure and classified communication environments and implementing cybersecurity best practices.
- Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, or classified government network operations.
- Knowledge of DISA STIGs, RMF, Zero Trust Architecture, and cybersecurity compliance requirements.
- Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, VMware, or cloud-based networking technologies.
- Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, Security+, JNCIA, or equivalent certifications.
- Experience supporting network modernization, cloud integration, or mission-critical operational support environments.
