Overview
Platform Engineering at Man Group is a division responsible for designing and supporting the foundational infrastructure and technology that underpins our Front Office, Enterprise Engineering and End-User functions. Consisting of the following teams Infrastructure, Architecture & DevOps, InfoSec, and End User technology.
This team ensures that internal and client-facing platforms are robust, scalable, and efficient, enabling other engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join our team of highly skilled engineers.
You would be working in a friendly and social team that is motivated to solve complex problems and design interesting solutions.
You will help us build and maintain the team's highest level of service and scale our network ahead of our business' demands, while pushing for more standardisation through automation.
What you’ll do
- Balance BAU and project work which comprises of day-to-day support and administration of the estate
- Promote and adhere to best practice across Technology by aligning strong engineering skills, attention to detail and knowledge of industry trends and best practices to build reliable, high performance and robust solutions.
- Integrate Ansible, Terraform, and other automation tools with Network systems and services.
- Ensure high availability across the Network estate
- Document automation processes and maintain version control via Git.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and provide automation solutions.
- Work collaboratively and as a trusted partner with infrastructure teams and stakeholders to understand requirements and provide solutions.
- Participate in an on-call support rota
This position is open to engineers based in Sofia, Bulgaria
About You
- 5+ years of experience operating and deploying network infrastructure
- 3+ years of experience in ground-up network design
- Experience with routing and network protocols
- Experience troubleshooting transport protocols (TCP/UDP)
- Ideally experience with overlay networks (EVPN, VXLAN)
- Eagerness to automate your workflow to increase efficiency
- High capacity to learn; we are more interested in how you think than what you already know
- High capacity for context switching and organising your workload
- Clear communication skills with the ability to maintain a high degree of customer feedback
- A flexible and reliable team player who enjoys working in a collaborative environment
An excellent knowledge of the following products:
Palo Alto Networks, Cisco Networking, Arista Networks, Infoblox
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Native level of communication skills in English
Nice to have:
Exposure to Grafana
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
Python experience
