SUMMARY
Responsibility for the security & management of our growing network.
-Implementing security protocols across the entire network infrastructure.
-The installation & management of a large number of physical & VMware Unix/Linux servers that provide a wide range of services, some of which include: Radius; ServAssure; Cacti; Rancid; Nagios; AdventNet WebNMS; EMS; Conexon; Apache; Speedtest; various custom built programs.
-In addition, the applicant must be familiar with MySQL and PostgreSQL database technologies to support new and existing services.
-Researches & performs software upgrades to core networking equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work in conjunction with Engineering and senior team members to design, secure and implement new & existing technologies (including but not limited to CMTS, DSL, FTTP, Metro Ethernet, and various software).
- Identify and provide resolutions for hardware & software technical problems.
- Provide guidance and support for team members as well as members of other teams within the enterprise.
- Research and implement software upgrades for network related equipment.
- Work in conjunction with Engineering to configure and maintain Unix/Linux servers and various services including Nagios; CEMS; Cacti; Conexon; Serv-Assure; Radius; Home-Grown tools; DHCP; DNS; Rancid; vendor specific EMS solutions.
- Create records, maintain & document IP addresses, circuits, equipment and network infrastructure using Microsoft Excel, Word and Visio.
- Create and maintain network infrastructure/topology documentation.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree preferred or related work experience.
- Four years networking required & 3 years of Linux/Unix experience. Extensive understanding of network protocols (IPv4/IPv6, OSPF, ICMP) along with real world, hands-on use.
- Strong technical problem solving and analytical skills.
Proficient in the following Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols; IPv4, IPv6, OSPFv3, RIP, ICMP, TCP/UDP, DHCP & ARP.
Proficient in the following technologies: routing, switching, security & wireless.
Excellent competencies in planning, organization, time management, written & oral communication.
Proficient in programming or scripting languages such as Perl, Java, etc.
Microsoft Excel, Word & Visio - Network & OS based certifications are desired (JNCIx, N+, CCNx, Linux+, etc.)
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and work in confined spaces as required.
- Must be willing and able to be on an "on call" duty rotation as required.
