The Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, deployment, and maintenance of network infrastructure that supports Slate's IT and OT (Operational Technology) environments, including manufacturing plants, office spaces, and connected vehicle ecosystems. The ideal candidate will bring experience with secure network architecture, advanced troubleshooting skills, and a deep understanding of automotive industry requirements, including cybersecurity standards and IoT/connected car technology.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

Network Design & Implementation:

  • Design, configure, and deploy scalable and secure network infrastructure for office, plant, and R&D environments.
  • Collaborate with IT and OT teams to support manufacturing systems, robotics, and in-vehicle communications.
  • Implement network solutions to support vehicle connectivity, telematics, and cloud-based automotive services.

Maintenance & Optimization:

  • Monitor and maintain network health across WAN/LAN, SD-WAN, VPN, and wireless networks.
  • Proactively optimize network performance and reduce latency for critical applications, including production systems and connected vehicle data.
  • Conduct regular network assessments and vulnerability scans to ensure compliance with automotive cybersecurity standards.

Troubleshooting & Support:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network issues in real-time to minimize downtime, especially in high-demand manufacturing environments.
  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 network support for IT, OT, and in-vehicle network issues.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including architecture diagrams, IP schemas, and device inventory.
  • Prepare regular reports on network performance, incidents, and key metrics.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a Network Engineer, ideally within the automotive, manufacturing, or telecommunications industries.
  • Proficiency with Cisco, Juniper, and/or other major network hardware and software.
  • Experience with firewall management, VPNs, SD-WAN, and network monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of automotive cybersecurity standards (e.g., ISO/SAE 21434) and familiarity with IoT/IIoT technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with wireless networking, VLANs, and network segmentation.
  • Certifications: Cisco (CCNA, CCNP), CompTIA Network+, or similar certifications preferred.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
