Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Network Engineer (IP) - Saudi National to join our team! In this role you will get to support the development, design, implementation, and operation of city-wide IP network infrastructure aligned with the project masterplan. Working within an integrated client–PMC environment, you will provide technical expertise across IP/MPLS networks, routing, switching, network security, and high-availability infrastructure to support reliable and resilient digital connectivity across major programs.
What You'll Be Doing- Support the design and delivery of city-wide IP network architecture, including backbone, metro, and access networks.
- Ensure compliance with routing, switching, security standards, and project technical requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical input related to scalability, resiliency, availability, and latency requirements.
- Review and provide engineering input on IP/MPLS/SRv6 network designs across core, aggregation, and access layers.
- Configure and review routing protocols including OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, QoS policies, and multicast configurations.
- Support integration of IP networks with transport and access technologies, including DWDM/ROADM, GPON/XGS-PON, wireless backhaul, and fiber infrastructure.
- Review District CMP/DMP submissions to verify constructability, compliance with project guidelines, and adherence to network standards.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot incidents, and perform root cause analysis for network-related issues.
- Support network change management activities, including configuration changes, patching, upgrades, and maintenance procedures.
- Coordinate with design, telecom, cybersecurity, DCIM, and infrastructure teams to align IP network requirements with fiber and data center infrastructure.
- Support commissioning activities, including FAT, SAT, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) for IP network systems.
- Provide technical clarifications and engineering support during construction, implementation, and vendor deployment activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards including IEC, IEEE, IETF RFCs, ISO 27001, NIST, and project security frameworks.
- Validate network segmentation, redundancy architectures, failover mechanisms, and high-availability requirements including N+1 and 2N designs.
- Coordinate with vendors for hardware and software delivery, configuration validation, and technical issue resolution.
- Liaise with Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and upstream providers for network interconnection and peering activities.
- Define and support network monitoring requirements, including SNMP, NetFlow, telemetry feeds, dashboards, and NOC/SOC integration.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including configurations, topology diagrams, as-built records, and operational manuals.
- Support knowledge transfer and provide training to Operations & Maintenance teams on troubleshooting, escalation procedures, and network tools.
- Collaborate with planning, design, construction, operations, and cybersecurity teams to ensure successful network delivery.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in IP networking, resilience, and proactive monitoring.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance network performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as appropriate.
- Bachelor's Degree in ICT, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 6+ years of experience in IP network design, implementation, and operations.
- Experience supporting telecom, data center, smart city, campus, ISP, metro, or critical infrastructure network environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- IP/MPLS and SRv6
- Routing and switching technologies
- OSPF, BGP, and IS-IS protocols
- QoS and multicast configurations
- Network segmentation and security controls
- High-availability network architectures
- N+1 and 2N redundancy models
- Experience reviewing network architecture, design documents, technical submissions, and vendor proposals.
