Network Administrator
Camp Arifjan, Kuwait
The Leidos Defense Sector is looking for a Network Administrator to support US Army Central G2. The program provides IT repair, maintenance, operations, logistics, and engineering services to help ensure secure, reliable, and uninterrupted availability of Army Military Intelligence Enterprise IT Systems as well as network administration support for an organization comprised mostly of a Microsoft Enterprise software environment residing on multiple networks.
The Network Administrator will be part of a dynamic team supporting customers throughout the ARCENT Area of Responsibility including both U.S. and coalition personnel. This is a deployed position located at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.
Duty hours are 12 hours per day, 7 days per week, and are subject to local labor laws. This position also requires 24/7 on call availability, including weekends and holidays.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform troubleshooting of network and connectivity issues with network devices on multiple LANs, and coordinate troubleshooting on Tier 0 WAN circuits to ensure mission critical operations continue across the AOR
- Install, maintain, and/or repair network infrastructure (i.e., Panduit, conduit, and/or terminating CAT5/6 or fiber).
- Advise government customers on COMSEC duties and serve as COMSEC custodian as needed; understand US DoD COMSEC rules, policies, and regulations.
- Comment on system changes through Configuration Control Boards (CCB) or similar tools.
- Maintain required security posture on all network equipment in accordance with DoD and local command mandates and requirements, including updates, STIGs, IOS upgrades, and other basic network security requirements.
- Assist Service Desk Technicians and System Administrators with Tier I and Tier II troubleshooting, as needed.
- Participate in special projects and day‐to‐day operations as needed or assigned by the site lead, including surging to alternate locations for customer requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of related experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Active DoD Top Secret SCI required.
- Active 8570 IAT II (or higher) Baseline Certification, such as: Security+|ce.
- Active one of the Computing Environment certifications, such as: CCNA, JNCIA-Junos, MD-102: Endpoint Administrator.
- Experience resolving Tier I and II hardware, software and application issues (printer, basic network (LAN) , scheduling & troubleshooting video tele-conferences (VTCs).
- Knowledge of LAN switching, including Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), VLAN Trunk Protocol (VTP), Port Security, Spanning Tree, and Layer 2 and 3 switching configurations.
- Understanding of Layer 3 routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, etc.) and best practices on implementation.
- Experience in installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Cisco‐based local‐area networks using various encryption devices; be able to document the network (such as with Visio).
- Ability to install, configure, and maintain encryption devices (KG‐175D, KG-250x, KG-175G, etc.) at network points of presence and to extend networks throughout the local and regional areas, including management via GEM-X.
- Understanding of Cisco WAN, LAN, and Data Center design practices, technologies and implementations.
- Experience with network-based monitoring tools (SolarWinds, WhatsUp Gold, etc).
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco VTC devices and VoIP phones.
- Working knowledge of Active Directory Users & Computers, security groups and NTFS permissions, Cisco network/LAN principles, MS Windows 11, MS Office, desktop & laptop hardware, etc.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts on-site, 7 days per week.
- On-call availability 24x7, including weekends and holidays.
- Current U.S. passport with at least 36 months validity and 5 blank pages.
- Must successfully complete CRC processing and medical screening and be designated “fit for deployment” (including medical tests and BMI analysis).
- Must obtain and maintain host nation work visa, including required local/regional medical testing.
- Must be willing to live and work in the State of Kuwait or deploy to austere forward locations as required.
- Must comply with all corporate policies, local site policies, host nation laws, customs, and courtesies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Computing Environment certs include: CCNP: R&S or CCDP, JNCIP-ENT.
