POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the administration, maintenance, monitoring, security, and optimization of enterprise network infrastructure, wireless systems, firewalls, and voice communications systems. Serves as the primary technical resource for network operations and troubleshooting, working closely with the Systems Administrator and Cybersecurity Administrator to maintain a secure, reliable, and highly available infrastructure and providing advanced technical support, infrastructure planning, and project coordination under the direction of the Director of IT.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Designs, implements, and maintains enterprise network infrastructure including firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, VPNs, and related systems;
  2. Administers and maintains Cisco Meraki, Catalyst, and Secure Firewall (Firepower) networking infrastructure, including security appliances, firewalls, switching, wireless systems, SD-WAN, and network monitoring tools;
  3. Designs, implements, and maintains network segmentation, VLANs, routing, wireless security, and access control configurations;
  4. Administers and supports Cisco Webex Calling phone systems, voice infrastructure, call routing, user provisioning, and related telecommunications services;
  5. Assists with maintenance and support of Avaya phone systems as required;
  6. Monitors network performance, availability, capacity, and security to ensure optimal operation of enterprise systems and services;
  7. Independently troubleshoots and resolves complex network connectivity, routing, switching, wireless, VPN, VoIP, and infrastructure issues with minimal supervision;
  8. Works closely with the Cybersecurity Administrator to implement network security controls, vulnerability remediation, monitoring, and cybersecurity best practices;
  9. Assists the Systems Administrator with server infrastructure, virtualization platforms, enterprise applications, and related systems as required to support overall infrastructure operations;
  10. Maintains network and infrastructure firmware, operating systems, and security updates to reduce operational and cybersecurity risk;
  11. Configures and manages network monitoring systems;
  12. Evaluates infrastructure needs and recommends hardware, software, licensing, security improvements, and lifecycle replacement planning;
  13. Prepares and maintains accurate and up-to-date network diagrams, infrastructure documentation, configurations, asset inventories, and operational procedures;
  14. Documents issues, troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and project activities utilizing the help desk and documentation systems;
  15. Provides Level 3 technical assistance and technical guidance to IT staff and other departments;
  16. Coordinates with vendors, contractors, carriers, and service providers to ensure timely resolution of issues requiring external support;
  17. Participates in infrastructure projects, maintenance windows, emergency response, and on-call support as required;
  18. Enforces IT policies, procedures, cybersecurity standards, and acceptable use requirements;
  19. Assists with disaster recovery planning, business continuity initiatives, and backup validation processes;
  20. Trains and mentors IT staff on network technologies, operational procedures, and best practices;
  21. Performs other position-related duties as assigned and required.
Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Associate's degree in Information Technology, Network Administration, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field (Bachelor Degree preferred), combined with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in administering enterprise network infrastructure. Experience must include hands-on administration of Cisco networking environments, including Cisco firewalls, switches, wireless systems, SD-WAN, VPN technologies, and Cisco Webex Calling systems. Current Cisco certification is required, such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Meraki Solutions Specialist, or another equivalent Cisco certification; Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and be insurable. Must successfully pass a post-offer drug screen and criminal history background check.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Advanced knowledge of enterprise networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing protocols, switching protocols, VLANs, wireless networking, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewall administration, QoS technologies, and enterprise voice systems: Demonstrated advanced-level experience administering enterprise Cisco networking environments, including Cisco Meraki firewalls, switching, wireless infrastructure, SD-WAN, VPN technologies, and Cisco Webex Calling systems in a medium to large enterprise environment; Working knowledge of Microsoft server environments, virtualization platforms, network security, infrastructure monitoring systems, and cybersecurity best practices, including network hardening and infrastructure security;   Troubleshooting and analytical skills in complex enterprise environments; Ability to independently manage priorities and resolve infrastructure issues with minimal supervision; Ability to prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures; Ability to communicate technical information clearly to technical and non-technical personnel and collaborate effectively with other team members on enterprise infrastructure initiatives; Maintain confidentiality and adhere to security policies and procedures at all times; Participate in after-hours support and emergency response activities as required; Maintain current knowledge of industry standards, cybersecurity trends, and emerging technologies.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, the ability to adjust focus, and the ability to differentiate between cable/wire colors. Must be able to work in inclement weather on occasion and be able to work on the roofs of buildings.

Skills Required
