IT Network Administrator – Job Description

Scout Energy is a private energy investment firm that acquires, operates and improves upstream conventional oil and gas and associated midstream properties for institutional investors. Scout’s business is both the management of private energy funds and the operation of the oil and gas assets it owns. Th current employee base is approximately 1200 with 200 employees in the Dallas (headquarters) office. 

Scout is seeking a Network Administrator with emphasis on managing the corporate network comprised of over 40 field locations across various states. This position will report to Scout’s IT Operations Manager as a part of our Information Technology department. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support network infrastructure for corporate IT systems
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain network equipment and cybersecurity solutions for enterprise-level IT systems, including cloud-based and on-premises environments
  • Provide support for corporate IT systems and servers (including virtual machines, cloud technologies, and physical on-prem solutions)
  • Evaluate and recommend security improvements and system upgrades
  • Monitor network to ensure increased connectivity and optimal performance
  • Administer network security, application security, and identity & access management
  • Create technical support documentation for network and server architecture
  • Implement and manage disaster recovery and backup procedures
  • Support and maintain IT network infrastructure (servers, switches, firewalls, wireless adapters, IP connectivity)
  • Collaborate with Cybersecurity Analysts to resolve issues reported by NOC/SOC
  • Work to implement enhanced network cybersecurity policies and procedures, adhering to industry standards (i.e., NIST CSF, ISO/IEC 27001).etc.) 

Skills & Specifications

  • Capable of implementing next-generation firewall technology and supporting integrations with cloud and on-premises network infrastructure
  • Proven network engineering, network operations, and performance analysis skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, plus hands-on technical troubleshooting capabilities
  • Collaborate with various teams to support remote resolutions
  • Understanding of network communication protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
  • Familiarity with server management, storage/disk usage, applications/databases
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Proficiency with scripting languages and database interactions (queries, batch files, data transfer/ETL processes)

Education & Qualifications 

  • 5+ years’ experience in network administration, IT/OT infrastructure 
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Windows Server OS and Applications
  • Previous experience with Cisco, Cisco Meraki firewalls, switches or similar
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

  • 5+ years experience in network administration and IT/OT infrastructure
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server OS and Applications
  • Experience with Cisco and Cisco Meraki firewalls and switches (or similar)
  • Ability to implement and manage next-generation firewall technology and cloud/on-prem integrations
  • Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  • Familiarity with server management, storage/disk usage, applications and databases
  • Proficiency with scripting languages and database interactions (queries, batch files, ETL)
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery, backup procedures, and network monitoring
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks/standards (NIST CSF, ISO/IEC 27001)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
