Vast is looking for a NDT Inspector, Eddy Current L2, reporting to the Manager, NDT to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities:
- Act as primary Level 2 point-of-contact for Eddy Current inspection development for 1st shift.
- Work closely with vital stakeholders to develop and execute feasibility studies, Probability of Detections (PODs), and qualification plans.
- Perform ET/ECA NDE inspections using novel and advanced techniques, evaluate digital ECA data files for quality and accept/reject criteria, and produce detailed and comprehensive documentation/reporting of eddy current analysis results.
- Collaborate with key internal Customers regarding inspection results and future possibilities.
- Develop and publish part-specific NDE techniques for a variety of complex parts.
- In depth comprehension and effective application of relevant NDE inspection plans, procedures, and techniques.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- Nondestructive Evaluation Level 2 certification in line with ASNT TC-1A, NAS-410, or DOD guidance in Eddy current (ET)
- NDE Level 2 Certification in Eddy Current Array (ECA) in an aerospace or nuclear setting
- 5+ years experience evaluating ECA data generated in Eddyfi Magnifi software or equivalent platform
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering work instructions and drawings
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time, and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic direction.
- ASNT or NAS-410 NDE Level 2 Certification in ET
- NDE Level 2 Certification in ultrasonics (UTT/UTSW/PAUT), dye penetrant (PT), visual inspection (VT,CWI), Eddy Current (ET, ECA)
- Experience with inspection of additively manufactured materials
- Experience inspecting various materials and geometries
- Knowledge of industry standards (NASA, AMS, AWS/ASME, ASTM, etc.)
- Experience with qualification of NDE inspection techniques/procedures in one or more volumetric methods
- Operational experience using one of the listed NDE methods for the inspection of weldments
- 2+ years of experience as a level II nondestructive evaluation/testing inspector
- Experience performing NDE testing within the aerospace industry
- American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
- Experience inspecting advanced materials such as high strength aluminum alloys, precipitation hardened steels, inconel, monel, titanium, and maraging steel (super alloys)
- Knowledge of NASA 5009 standards
- Knowledge of AMS, AWS/ASME, ASTM, standards
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs unassisted
- Must have documented evidence of previous training and certification
Pay Range:
- NDT Inspector, Level II, Grade 2 Eddy Current: $29 - $41
- NDT Inspector, Level II, Grade 3 Eddy Current: $37 - $53
