As a Naval Architect you will assess the workability limits of the offshore operations. The workability is a key element in the feasibility during the tender phase and is also one of the most important drivers in the decision making process during project execution. You will assess the workability by simulating the operations in hydrodynamic software packages and by co-engineering with colleagues in other disciplines in an international context. The work is mainly done from the office but offshore interventions are part of the job.Your responsibilities:

being responsible for the assessment of the operability of the offshore operations;

providing insight by mapping the workability of different installation operations;

being in charge of delivering the engineering work for seakeeping, dynamic lift and station keeping analyses;
-
managing engineering subcontractors;
-
taking care of calculations, simulations and reporting to all stakeholders;
-
contributing to the decision making process on board of the vessels by supporting marine and project crew with the setup of software tools to assess weather in real time;
-
following up the performance of marine operations with view on preparing and optimizing the next operations;

creating and maintaining expert knowledge within DEME Offshore's Design & Engineering Department and sharing it with the relevant project teams.
Your profile:
-
MSc or BSc Civil or Mechanical Engineering preferably with a specialization in Naval Architecture, Offshore or Marine Engineering;

relevant knowledge or experience with hydrodynamics (e.g. radiation-diffraction f.e. Aqwa) and multi-body dynamics (e.g. mass-spring-damper models f.e. Orcaflex);

affinity with programming language Python, data analytics and data handling;

fluent in verbal and written English;
-
communicating positively at different levels;
-
able to work under pressure keeping strict deadlines, persistent in a diplomatic way and value team work;

willingness to travel abroad for short missions and interventions on board of a vessel.
