The Role
Ameriprise Financial is seeking a National Sales Consultant supporting our Wealth Management Business. The National Sales Consultant will support Managed Accounts initiatives such as Signature Wealth and SPS Advisor, as well as Structured Products and Alternative Investments through mainly inbound sales support calls. This role represents a unique mid-level opportunity for FINRA licensed individuals to join a high producing team, with career growth opportunity after 18-24 months for high performers. This opportunity offers a fixed starting salary and special incentive plan with expected total annual earnings of $80k+.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer inbound advisor calls and provide advice using product technical expertise and consultation skills addressing product benefits/features, sales strategies, plan selection, rules/regulations, and suitability for Advisory based platforms (Active Portfolios, SPS Advantage/Advisor, Select Separate Accounts, etc.) and Structured Products and Alternative Investments (Private Equity, Managed Futures, Hedge Funds, etc.).
  • Partner closely with other internal/external sales partners including Advisory and Structured Product Consultants and internal business partners to support client/advisor needs and business objectives. Assist team on various ad hoc tactics, such as special mailboxes, that may be set up from time to time based on need.
  • Capture all relevant sales call information is updated in Salesforce.com, including pipeline and tracking information. Respond swiftly and courteously to advisor questions, concerns or complaints. Collaborate with external partner(s) and internal resources to develop and implement business plans to maximize sales.
  • Periodically participate in approved outbound call campaigns for a variety of reasons (e.g. focus areas for team, following up to conference, etc.).
  • Stay abreast of product feature changes, asset allocation approach, and regulatory changes.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Advisory and Structured products, including asset allocation and portfolio selection.
  • Active Series 7
  • Active Series 66 or Series 63/65 or willing to obtain.
  • Financial industry experience, preferably in sales and/or wholesaling.
  • Ability to articulate complex information in a clear and concise manner, excellent telephone communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to establish rapport and credibility quickly.
  • Demonstrated sales and coaching experience.
  • Solid presentation skills for use in one-on-one as well as infrequent large group settings.
  • Ability to work in a sales-oriented team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Ameriprise platform and products.

Base Pay Salary

The estimated base salary for this role is $50,000/year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
