Your Role


We are seeking a National Lineup Editor to oversee the planning, curation and distribution of Radio-Canada’s digital-first news and entertainment content.


In this role, you will manage the home pages of the Radio-Canada website and mobile app, working closely with our various news and entertainment production units. You will establish a content planning and management structure to effectively promote content from across all production units. You will also lead editorial curation and promotion, scheduling content for the lineups of all digital platforms and distribution channels (including the mobile app, website, newsletters and social media).


You will report to the Managing Editor, Digital News, for French Services in Montreal. In this role, you must strictly comply with CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.


Please note that work schedules may vary based on production needs.


More specifically, the successful candidate will:

  • Keep up with the news through various sources.
  • Stay well-informed about Radio-Canada’s news and entertainment programming.
  • Select, prioritize and highlight content in real time, ensuring alignment with editorial guidelines and audience needs.
  • Plan short-, mid- and long-term digital content distribution in collaboration with all production teams.
  • Co-ordinate cross-departmental digital projects and manage multiplatform rollouts.
  • Ensure strict compliance with CBC/Radio-Canada’s publishing standards and Journalistic Standards and Practices, requesting corrections when necessary.
  • Maintain and continuously update the digital platforms you oversee.
  • Write breaking news alerts, copy and headlines as needed.
  • Source images and integrate the necessary visual, graphic, video or audio elements to enhance content.
  • Utilize digital analytics tools to track performance and optimize audience engagement in accordance with organizational guidelines.
  • Regularly monitor digital media and technology trends to identify emerging best practices and innovations.

This role requires full-time on-site presence.


What You Bring:


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ journalism experience or equivalent.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience working in a digital media environment.

Skills:

  • Confident, positive leadership style.
  • Deep knowledge of current events and a strong interest in entertainment content.
  • Thorough understanding of the digital landscape and best practices for multi-format content promotion.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Extensive general knowledge.
  • Understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices and publishing guidelines.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced, competitive news environment.
  • Excellent command of French; proficiency in English is an asset.
  • Knowledge of digital trends and formats.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., Scoop, Picto) and audio/video tools (e.g., Avid NewsCutter, Dalet Plus, Final Cut Pro) is an asset.
  • Team co-ordination experience is an asset.

  • Radio-Canada editorial tests.
  • Interview.
