About the job

The National Key Account Manager will be a critical driver of growth and success within the organization by managing and nurturing strategic relationships with key national accounts. This role demands a results-oriented professional with a proven track record in account management, sales strategy execution, and fostering cross-functional collaboration. The National Key Account Manager will be responsible for optimizing revenue, enhancing client satisfaction, and elevating the company's market presence.

Essential Functions

  • Account Management: Develop and execute comprehensive account strategies that enhance revenue and market share within assigned national accounts.
  • Strong communication skills: both written and verbal, that influence successful business outcomes
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to navigate and offer creative solutions in a variety of selling situations
  • Financial Acumen: Ability to build financially astute and analytically driven sales plans that generate results
  • Planning Skills: Purposefully plan and prioritize initiatives to achieve results with limited direction
  • Client Relationship Building: Cultivate strong and enduring relationships with key stakeholders at national accounts, understanding their unique needs and providing tailored solutions.
  • Sales KPI's / Achievement: Exceed sales targets through identification of cross-selling, upselling, and new product opportunities, while consistently delivering value to clients.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal teams, including marketing, operations, supply chain, and finance, to ensure seamless execution of account plans.
  • Negotiations: Lead negotiations on contracts, pricing, and terms to achieve agreements that are mutually beneficial for both the company and clients.
  • Market Insights: Keep abreast of industry trends, competitive activities, and market dynamics, translating insights into effective strategies and actionable growth opportunities.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Utilize data analysis to inform decision-making, optimize sales strategies, and track performance against goals.
  • Forecasting and Reporting: Deliver accurate sales forecasts, performance metrics, and regular reports to internal stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in sales, key account management, or business development within the consumer packaged goods industry.
  • Demonstrated success in managing and growing national key accounts.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Extensive car travel and overnight stays required
  • Must have, and maintain, a valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Responsible for being knowledgeable of and acting in strict accordance with the requirements of all relevant laws, regulations, and Company policies, including, among other areas, Food and Drug Administration regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or related field. 5-7 years of related experience.
  • Experience working with major national retailers or distributors.
  • Proficiency in using data analysis tools and techniques to derive actionable insights.
  • Familiarity with category management, trade marketing strategies, and market trends.
  • Ability to influence executive-level decisions and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful account-specific joint business plans.
