About Us:
Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) is a global Jewish human rights organization that confronts antisemitism and hate, defends the safety of Israel and Jews worldwide, and teaches the lessons of the Holocaust through awareness, advocacy, justice, education, and its Museums of Tolerance. With a constituency of over 400,000 member families since its founding in 1977, the SWC has an international footprint through its Museums of Tolerance, Moriah Films, and the Digital Terrorism + Hate Project.
Headquartered in Los Angeles, it maintains operations in New York, Chicago, Miami, Toronto, Paris, Berlin, Jerusalem, and Buenos Aires. It is an accredited Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) at the United Nations, UNESCO, the Organization of American States, the Latin American Parliament, and the Council of Europe and maintains relationships with the highest levels of governments throughout the world.
In 1993, the Center opened the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles to worldwide acclaim. The Museum has served as the Center’s flagship educational arm, challenging visitors to confront bigotry and racism, and to understand the Holocaust in both historical and contemporary contexts. In addition, the Center developed Moriah Media to produce theatrical documentaries to educate global audiences. Moriah has produced 17 documentaries to date, two of which have received the Academy Award for best feature documentary, The Long Way Home and Genocide.
Position Overview:
The Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) seeks an experienced, strategic, and highly collaborative National Director, Mobile Museum of Tolerance to provide national operational leadership for its growing network of Mobile Museums of Tolerance (MMOT).
The Mobile Museum of Tolerance brings the educational mission and resources of the Museum of Tolerance directly into communities through a mobile learning environment designed to engage students, educators, families, community leaders, and diverse audiences in meaningful conversations about Holocaust education, antisemitism, prejudice, discrimination, human rights, and the responsibility to challenge hate.
As the MMOT network continues to expand across the United States, the National Director will be responsible for developing and overseeing the operational infrastructure, systems, processes, and standards that support the success of MMOT locations nationwide. This is not a traditional fleet-management position. While the Mobile Museums themselves are an essential component of the operation, the National Director will oversee the broader operational lifecycle of the MMOT program—from planning, staffing, scheduling, deployment, logistics, resource management, and program support to performance measurement, continuous improvement, and expansion into new markets.
The National Director will serve as a critical connector between national and regional MMOT leadership, ensuring that each location has the resources, systems, processes, and support needed to operate effectively while maintaining the mission, quality, and standards of the Museum of Tolerance. The current MMOT network includes locations and/or operations in California, New York, Chicago/Midwest, Florida, and Massachusetts, with Hawaiʻi forthcoming, with additional expansion anticipated.
Key Responsibilities:

- Establish consistent operational standards, procedures, workflows, and best practices across MMOT locations.
- Oversee the full operational lifecycle of MMOT activities, from planning and scheduling through deployment, execution, evaluation, and follow-up.
- Identify operational challenges and opportunities across regions and develop practical, scalable solutions.
- Create systems that allow MMOT operations to grow efficiently as new locations and markets are added.
- Establish national operational goals, performance indicators, reporting processes, and accountability measures.
- Regularly assess the effectiveness of MMOT operations and recommend improvements to leadership.
Regional Leadership & Collaboration
- Partner closely with regional MMOT leadership to understand local needs, challenges, opportunities, and resource requirements.
- Provide operational guidance and support while respecting the unique needs and community relationships of each region.
- Facilitate communication and information sharing among MMOT locations.
- Create opportunities for regional teams to share successful practices, lessons learned, and innovative approaches.
- Conduct regular operational reviews with regional leadership.
- Ensure regional teams have the tools, information, resources, and infrastructure necessary to execute their work effectively.
- Serve as a national resource and escalation point for significant operational issues.
Program Delivery & Operational Readiness
- Develop and oversee systems supporting MMOT educational programs, community engagements, tours, events, and other deployments.
- Ensure that operational planning supports a consistent, high-quality experience across markets.
- Coordinate with Education and other program leadership to ensure operational needs are aligned with programming requirements.
- Establish processes for deployment planning, scheduling, staffing, transportation, equipment, supplies, setup, breakdown, and site readiness.
- Develop contingency and emergency procedures for operational disruptions, including weather, transportation challenges, mechanical issues, cancellations, staffing shortages, and other unforeseen circumstances.
- Monitor operational readiness and proactively address issues before they impact programming or community commitments.
People & Workforce Planning
- Partner with Human Resources and regional leadership to develop appropriate staffing models for current and future MMOT operations.
- Support workforce planning associated with new MMOT launches and changes in regional programming volume.
- Identify opportunities to improve staffing utilization, scheduling, coverage, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with HR and leadership on onboarding, training, role clarity, and operational expectations for MMOT staff.
- Help establish consistent operational practices while recognizing regional differences.
- Support a culture of collaboration, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement across the MMOT network.
Budget, Resources & Vendor Management
- Partner with Finance and leadership to develop and manage the national MMOT operational budget.
- Monitor operational expenditures and identify opportunities for greater efficiency and responsible resource allocation.
- Support forecasting and long-term operational planning for existing and future MMOT locations.
- Oversee operational vendors, service providers, contracts, equipment, supplies, and other resources as appropriate.
- Develop national purchasing and vendor strategies when centralized solutions provide greater efficiency or consistency.
- Coordinate with appropriate internal departments regarding facilities, technology, insurance, transportation, equipment, and other operational needs.
Fleet & Asset Operations
- Provide strategic oversight of the operational readiness and utilization of the MMOT fleet as one component of the broader national operating model.
- Establish systems and accountability for vehicle maintenance, inspections, registration, insurance, storage, and operational readiness.
- Partner with appropriate internal and external resources to address vehicle-related needs and emergencies.
- Develop long-term planning for fleet utilization, replacement, expansion, and capital needs.
- Ensure fleet-related decisions support the educational and operational objectives of the MMOT program.
New Market Development & Expansion:
- Serve as the operational lead for the development and launch of new MMOT locations.
- Develop standardized launch plans, timelines, checklists, and operational requirements for new markets.
- Assess staffing, scheduling, facilities, transportation, technology, equipment, vendor, and budget requirements associated with expansion.
- Partner with regional and national leadership to establish operational readiness prior to launch.
- Evaluate newly launched MMOT operations and implement improvements based on early results and lessons learned.
- Build a scalable infrastructure that allows SWC to expand the MMOT model into additional communities nationwide.
