Job Purpose

To lead and coordinate the Interfaith Leaders Program by building and strengthening strategic relationships with faith and interfaith leaders at the state, national, and global levels. The National Coordinator will drive meaningful dialogues, partnerships, campaigns, and initiatives that leverage the influence of faith leaders to raise awareness, mobilise communities, and contribute to the prevention and eradication of child marriage and other forms of exploitation of children.

The role will be responsible for effective program planning, stakeholder engagement, implementation, coordination, content development, and monitoring of initiatives in alignment with the organisation’s objectives and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

A. Interfaith Leader Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Build, develop, and maintain strategic relationships with prominent faith leaders, interfaith networks, religious institutions, and community influencers.
  • Engage faith leaders at state, national, and global levels to build support for child protection and child marriage prevention initiatives.
  • Facilitate meaningful dialogue and collaboration among leaders from diverse faith communities.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage faith-based networks and platforms for awareness, advocacy, and community mobilisation.
  • Maintain regular communication and follow-up with key stakeholders to sustain engagement.

B. Program Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and support the implementation of strategies for the Interfaith Leaders Program in alignment with organisational goals.
  • Plan and coordinate interfaith leader dialogues, campaigns, workshops, consultations, conferences, and other program initiatives.
  • Identify emerging opportunities and areas of intervention where faith leaders can contribute to preventing child marriage.
  • Develop activity plans, implementation approaches, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Ensure timely execution of planned activities in coordination with relevant teams.

C. Program Implementation & Coordination

  • Coordinate and oversee the implementation of activities under the Interfaith Leaders Program.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between internal teams, faith leaders, partner organisations, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor ongoing program activities and ensure that agreed actions and commitments are followed through.
  • Strengthen and oversee existing mechanisms and engagement platforms under the program.
  • Identify implementation challenges and recommend appropriate solutions to the reporting manager.

D. Faith Leader Mobilisation

  • Mobilise faith leaders and interfaith networks for campaigns, events, consultations, and advocacy initiatives.
  • Develop opportunities for collective action by faith leaders against child marriage.
  • Identify champions and influential leaders who can support the organisation's child protection objectives.
  • Facilitate platforms where faith leaders can share experiences, commitments, and good practices.
  • Support the development of a strong and sustainable national network of faith leaders.

E. Content Development & Communication

  • Oversee the development of content and communication materials for faith leader campaigns and initiatives.
  • Draft and review speeches, talking points, briefing notes, campaign messages, presentations, reports, and other relevant materials.
  • Coordinate with the communications team for the development and dissemination of campaign content.
  • Ensure that content is accurate, culturally sensitive, contextually appropriate, and aligned with organisational messaging.
  • Support the documentation and dissemination of successful faith-led interventions and stories of change.

F. Advocacy & Strategic Partnerships

  • Support advocacy initiatives aimed at strengthening the role of faith leaders in preventing child marriage.
  • Develop partnerships with interfaith forums, religious institutions, civil society organisations, government stakeholders, and other relevant networks.
  • Represent the organisation in relevant meetings, consultations, forums, and events, as assigned.
  • Identify opportunities for strategic collaboration and institutional partnerships.
  • Contribute to positioning the organisation as a credible voice on faith-based engagement for child protection.

G. Monitoring, Documentation & Reporting

  • Track progress of program activities and stakeholder engagements.
  • Maintain updated records of faith leader engagement, partnerships, meetings, commitments, and outcomes.
  • Prepare periodic reports, presentations, updates, and documentation related to the program.
  • Capture learnings, good practices, challenges, and recommendations for strengthening the program.
  • Provide regular updates to the reporting manager on program progress and key developments.

H. Coordination & Compliance

  • Deliver the above responsibilities in close coordination with the reporting manager and obtain prior approval wherever required.
  • Coordinate with relevant internal departments to ensure effective planning and implementation of program activities.
  • Ensure that all activities are undertaken in accordance with organisational policies, procedures, values, and approved plans.
  • Perform any other work-related responsibilities assigned by the reporting manager.

Education

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Development Studies, Public Policy, Political Science, Religious Studies, Gender Studies, International Relations, or another relevant social science/development-related discipline.
  • Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and substantial relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Additional training/certification in community mobilisation, advocacy, interfaith dialogue, child rights, gender, or program management will be an advantage.

Experience

  • 10–15 years of relevant professional experience in program management, stakeholder engagement, advocacy, community mobilisation, interfaith engagement, or social development.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and managing relationships with faith leaders, religious institutions, community leaders, government stakeholders, NGOs, and other influential networks.
  • Experience in planning and implementing campaigns, workshops, consultations, dialogue sessions, conferences, and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
  • Experience in facilitating multi-stakeholder discussions and building consensus among diverse groups.
  • Experience in content development, including preparation of campaign materials, presentations, briefing notes, reports, speeches, and communication materials.
  • Experience working on child protection, child marriage, gender, education, trafficking, or related social-development issues will be an advantage.
  • Experience working with national or state-level networks and organisations will be desirable.

The ideal candidate should be a strong relationship builder and effective communicator who is comfortable engaging senior faith leaders and diverse stakeholders. They should have the ability to bring people from different backgrounds onto a common platform and translate these relationships into collective action for child protection and the eradication of child marriage.

 



Skills Required

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Sociology, Development Studies, Public Policy, Political Science, Religious Studies, Gender Studies, International Relations, or another relevant social science or development-related discipline
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with substantial relevant experience may be considered
