JOB SUMMARY

The NASCAR Program Director will provide overall program leadership across the NASCAR Cup and Truck Series programs.   Management of program resources and assets between departments within Pratt Miller, Kaulig Racing, Stellantis and external vendors to execute the NASCAR Cup and Truck Series support program.  This position requires the ability to lead engineers and technicians as direct and indirect reports while fostering a collaborative team environment across all stakeholders.  The candidate will balance program performance on and off track to ensure engineering, competition and budgetary objectives are achieved. This candidate MUST have prior Motorsports Leadership experience!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective customer relationships associated with the Pratt Miller (PM) NASCAR support program
  • Management of PM NASCAR support personnel including responsibility for department organization structure, recruiting, and development/training of the PM NASCAR staff (supported by PM Human Resources Department)
  • Work closely with the PM Engineering leadership team in the planning and successful execution of technical support program deliverables
  • Work with PM Engineering leaders (software tools, simulation, DIL Simulator, aerodynamics, tire engineering, design, manufacturing etc.) to plan and coordinate matrixed resources as required in support of NASCAR programs and projects
  • Coordination and optimal allocation of PM NASCAR resources towards customer objectives
  • Management of department business activities in conjunction with and supported by PM Finance department and Motorsports Business Unit leadership
  • Responsible for regular status updates to PM NASCAR customers and PM leadership
  • Attend approximately 12 NASCAR Cup and Truck series race events per year

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leading and Attendance at Pratt Miller and customer meetings
  • Education / training
  • Provide feedback on NASCAR program needs and processes
  • Support Pratt Miller initiatives, marketing events, and general development as necessary

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Desired Education

  • BS or MS in Mechanical, Aerospace or Automotive Engineering
  • 7+ years of professional experience in top-level auto racing (NASCAR, F1, IMSA, IndyCar)
  • 2+ years of experience in NASCAR Sprint Cup
  • 3+ years of motorsport management or leadership experience

Desired Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience with engineering methods typically used in race vehicle performance development (simulation, aerodynamic development, chassis development, etc.)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and a proven track record of working with development teams to execute engineering projects/programs
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to work independently and move projects forward with little direction
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills for communicating with customers, race teams and Pratt Miller team members
  • Overall experience with managing technical teams

Work Environment / Physical Demands:

  • Stress may occur periodically
  • Long hours may be required at times
  • Travel is required but would vary on support needs. Total travel commitments can range from 50 to 100 days a year.
  • Work environment can vary between group and individual assignments and tasks

Other Requirements

  • Ability to travel outside of continental US with no restrictions

Pay Range:

$136,800.00 - $253,200.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
