“We’re not in the shipping business; we’re in the information business” -Peter Rose, Expeditors Founder

Based at the customer site, the NASA Regional Metric Analyst is the critical "truth-seeker" for our operational data. Right now, complex supply chain disruptions are often masked by inaccurate or surface-level vendor reporting. We need a tenacious logistics data specialist who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves, dig into complex databases, and follow the breadcrumbs to uncover the actual root cause of a missed build or delayed shipment.
You will act as the vital support engine for the region, managing the heavy lifting of weekly "Run-the-Business" (RTB) reporting and manual data validation. By establishing robust data governance and holding our 3PL partners accountable for accurate reason coding, you will clean our data at the source. Your groundwork will not only provide immediate clarity to leadership but will ultimately pave the way for future AI and automated metric tracking.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Investigative Root Cause Analysis: Do not take data at face value. Manually audit daily/weekly bug tickets and system flags, deciphering complex, multi-tiered supply chain events (e.g., tracing a "missing task" back three steps to a global material stockout) to find the true point of failure.
- Vendor Data Governance & Feedback Loops: Act as the primary auditor of 3PL reason codes. Identify when vendors are applying the wrong codes, push back with researched evidence ("I researched this, and the reason should be X, not Y"), and actively train them to improve their daily inputs.
- Run-the-Business (RTB) Reporting: Ensure the lights stay on by owning critical, time-sensitive deliverables (Monday MOR and WER reporting). Provide the analytical bedrock that gives leadership the lead time necessary to build "path to green" action plans.
- Database Navigation & Synthesis: Comfortably navigate a fragmented, highly complex ecosystem of client databases, tracking tools, and ticketing systems to stitch together a cohesive story of what happened on the warehouse floor.
- Strategic Capacity Relief: Serve as the primary redundancy and support for the senior analyst, absorbing manual data validation tasks so the broader team can elevate their focus to proactive, trend-based analytics and transformational projects.
- Pathway to Automation: Document the manual signals and triggers used to identify root causes, eventually partnering with Enablement teams to build Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) that will automate future reason coding.
- Required Qualities & Behavioral Competencies
- Relentless Curiosity: You possess an investigative mindset. When you see an anomaly, you instinctively want to double-click and follow the trail until it makes sense.
- Comfort with Messy Data: You thrive in ambiguous environments where data is unstructured, fragmented, or manual. You see cleaning and validating data as a satisfying puzzle rather than a chore.
- Tactful Assertiveness: You have the interpersonal skills to tell a vendor or partner they made a mistake, constructively correcting their actions to build a long-term culture of accuracy.
- Extreme Attention to Detail: You are willing and able to go line-by-line through operational logs and tickets without losing focus, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks.
- Supportive & Collaborative: You take pride in being the reliable backbone of a team, understanding that your rigorous attention to detail directly empowers senior leaders to make strategic decisions.
