Job Description SummaryGE Vernova's Power Conversion & Storage division is seeking an experienced Engineering Capability & Governance Leader to drive engineering capability, workforce readiness, technical governance, and operational planning across the North American Engineering organization.
Reporting to the Head of North American Engineering, this role serves as the operational and capability steward for Engineering, ensuring the organization has the capacity, competencies, standards, and knowledge infrastructure required to meet current and future business demand. Core responsibilities span Engineering S&OP, workforce and capacity planning, technical governance, knowledge management, organizational capability development, and Engineering Training Center leadership.
This role also serves as the primary interface between North American Engineering and our Engineering Delivery Center (EDC) teams in Brazil and India, ensuring consistent governance, technical standards, and workload alignment across globally distributed engineering resources.
The ideal candidate combines strong business acumen, organizational planning skills, and engineering leadership experience with the ability to translate complex engineering and workforce data into actionable insights for senior leadership. Success in this role depends on close, ongoing collaboration with Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, ITO, PMO, Manufacturing, and Engineering leaders to align engineering capacity, skills, and capabilities with business demand and strategic growth objectives.

Job Description

Engineering Governance & Reporting

  • Establish and maintain Engineering governance processes, leadership review mechanisms, and organizational reporting structures.
  • Develop and maintain executive dashboards, scorecards, and Engineering Leadership Team reporting.
  • Support leadership decision-making through analysis, reporting, forecasting, and planning insights.
  • Maintain Engineering leadership action-tracking processes and reporting mechanisms.

Engineering S&OP, Capacity & Workforce Planning

  • Own the Engineering S&OP process, ensuring alignment between business demand, engineering capacity, workforce capabilities, and resource requirements.
  • Translate sales forecasts, project demand, and business growth plans into Engineering resource and capability requirements.
  • Lead Engineering capacity planning, workforce forecasting, and resource planning activities across all engineering disciplines.
  • Partner with Engineering leaders to identify staffing requirements, critical skill gaps, succession risks, and capability needs.
  • Develop workforce strategies including hiring plans, contractor utilization, outsourcing approaches, and capability-development plans.

Knowledge Management & Capability

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Engineering Knowledge Management strategy to capture, retain, and maintain the critical skills required to support business initiatives.
  • Establish mentoring, succession-planning, and knowledge-transfer programs to preserve critical expertise and reduce organizational risk.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with corporate Knowledge Management teams.
  • Partner with Engineering leaders to strengthen technical expertise, leadership pipelines, and organizational scalability.

Global Engineering Delivery Management

  • Serve as the primary interface between North American Engineering and Engineering Delivery Center (EDC) teams in Brazil and India.
  • Ensure consistent application of engineering standards, documentation requirements, technical governance, and quality expectations across regional and global resources.
  • Monitor resource utilization, staffing alignment, and support models across global engineering organizations.
  • Support the deployment of the NAM training center.

Technical Governance & Engineering Standards

  • Define, implement, and maintain Engineering governance processes, technical standards, and quality system requirements across engineering disciplines.

Financial Stewardship

  • Support Engineering leadership in budget planning and management related to workforce development, training programs, Engineering Excellence initiatives, and external engineering resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of engineering, engineering operations, program management, engineering leadership, workforce planning, or engineering excellence experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in Engineering Operations, Engineering Excellence, workforce planning, organizational capability development, or technical governance.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $131,700.00 and $219,300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
