Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking an MWR (Morale, Welfare, and Recreation) Accountant to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.
Job Responsibilities
The MWR Accountant is responsible for managing financial operations, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with financial policies for Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) activities. This role is vital for maintaining accuracy in financial records and alignment with established guidelines. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Financial Management and Reporting:
- Preparing and submitting financial reports generated by SAP, FoodTrak, Micros, or AIMS Local Operations Reports in compliance with the Commander, Navy Installations (CNI) schedule for monthly and annual financial book closings.
- Preparing monthly Uniform Funding Management Memorandum of Agreement (UFM MOA) billings in compliance with the AIMS User’s Handbook, using Form 1034 (Public Voucher for Purchases and Services Other than Personal) with supporting documentation.
- Maintaining compliance with financial management policies and procedures established within the AIMS User’s Handbook and other applicable guidelines unless waived by the Government.
Accounting Calendar and Audits:
- Developing and maintaining an accounting calendar that indicates the end date of each accounting month to ensure timely financial operations.
- Supporting audits, inspections, and reviews by ensuring all financial documentation is accurate and readily available.
Compliance and Best Practices:
- Ensuring adherence to CNI MWR financial reporting policies, accurately preparing reports, and closing books within established deadlines.
- Collaborating with department managers to monitor expense elements, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure compliance with all guidelines.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in financial management or accounting, preferably in MWR or government operations.
- Working knowledge of SAP, FoodTrak, Micros, and AIMS (Automated Integrated Management System) or similar financial reporting systems.
- Strong understanding of policies, procedures, and reporting requirements for Uniform Funding Management (UFM) and general government financial management.
- Proficiency in preparing and submitting financial reports with strict attention to accuracy and timeliness.
- Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills to address accounting and reporting challenges.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.
- Valid country driver’s license.
- Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
- Familiarity with DoD financial policies and procedures for Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) services.
- Demonstrated experience with Form 1034 public vouchers or similar government expense documentation.
- Advanced certifications or training in accounting systems such as SAP or FoodTrak.
