Description
Miami Children’s Museum is seeking a dependable, friendly, and observant Museum Safety Officer to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for our guests, employees, and community.
The Museum Safety Officer will monitor the facility, assist guests, respond to safety concerns, and help ensure that Museum policies and procedures are followed. The ideal candidate is professional, attentive, comfortable interacting with children and families, and able to respond calmly and appropriately in challenging situations.
What You'll Do
- Maintain a visible presence throughout the Museum to promote a safe environment
- Monitor entrances, exits, exhibits, and common areas
- Greet and assist guests in a professional and courteous manner
- Respond to safety concerns, incidents, and emergencies
- Help enforce Museum policies and procedures
- Complete incident reports accurately and promptly
- Assist with evacuations and emergency procedures when necessary
- Communicate concerns to Museum leadership and appropriate team members
- Support special events and other Museum activities as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in safety, security, hospitality, customer service, or a similar role preferred
- Strong observation and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations
- Comfortable working around children, families, and large groups
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

What We Do
Miami Children’s Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational institution on Watson Island in Miami. It serves children and families through interactive exhibits, arts, culture, science, literacy, history, career and environmental programming. The Museum provides an inclusive setting where children can play, learn, imagine, create and explore, while collaborating with civic, cultural and community organizations to address children’s and families’ needs.
