WCPO 9, the E.W. Scripps ABC station in Cincinnati, Ohio, is looking for a Multimedia Journalist to join our award-winning newsroom. This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for a journalist who can separate us from the competition through exceptional source-building, enterprise reporting, and compelling storytelling. WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Receive assignments or evaluate news leads and tips to develop original story ideas.

  • Gather and verify factual information through interviews, observation, and research.

  • Organize material, determine story emphasis, and write content according to editorial standards and AP style.

  • Shoot video and still photos to illustrate stories.

  • Edit, or assist in editing, video for television, digital, social, and streaming platforms.

  • Appear on television programs while conducting interviews or providing narration.

  • Deliver live reports from the scene of breaking news and community events.

  • Work collaboratively with photographers and other newsroom staff when assigned.

  • Assist producers in preparing newscasts and coverage plans.

  • Partner with digital teams to create compelling multimedia content for all platforms.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent years of experience.

  • Generally, 3+ years of professional reporting experience preferred.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Strong journalism skills, including enterprise reporting, source development, and storytelling.

  • Proven ability to develop exclusive stories through relationship-building, public records research, and enterprise reporting that delivers meaningful impact for local communities.

  • Computer literacy, including experience with newsroom content management systems.

  • Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of broadcast-quality camera equipment.

  • Ability to edit video using Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, or similar editing systems.

  • Strong broadcast writing and AP style skills.

  • Experience publishing content across digital, social, and streaming platforms.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Strong news judgment and a commitment to accurate, ethical journalism.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with company-required limits.
