Summary Generated by Built In

The dynamic vehicle electrification, AI data center, industrial and energy infrastructure market spaces are undergoing transformational growth. High power modules are no longer an off-the-shelf semiconductor solution, but rather an integral part of the overall power electronics architecture.  We are seeking a passionate Power Module Design Member of Technical Staff with expertise in power module design to come on board onsemi’s Power Solutions Group design team and be part of our quest to be the global Intelligent Power solutions leader.

We have an innovative portfolio of Silicon Carbide (SiC) solutions, alongside IGBTs and GaN in the pipeline and we look forward to enhancing our product roadmap with creative solutions that enable us to meet our customer needs. The successful applicant will be based in our office in either Munich, Scottsdale or San Jose.

Responsibilities
  • You will have technical ownership and leadership to design, develop, qualify and release primarily SiC power modules, alongside other power solutions such as IGBT, GaN and others.  You will have engineering product ownership, with the need for implementing feasible designs, assessing technical risk and making sound engineering judgement.
  • You will lead a cross-functional team to formulate a working design that is predictive. You will work with both ECAD and MCAD tools to achieve this.
  • You will drive a team of cross-functional engineers who are globally located to implement rugged designs that are highly reliable and yet cost competitive. You will work with extended quality, R&D and manufacturing organizations to ensure the highest degree of quality and adherence to quality processes.
  • You will partner engineering teams to drive product level DFQM, DFMEA and PFMEA.
  • You will work with leading customers to resolve technical challenges and ensure successful design-in execution.
  • You are required to frequently engage internal and stakeholders to communicate project status.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Masters degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Physics or related technical field. PhD in a relevant field of work is highly desirable.
  • Over 12 years of experience in power semiconductors and power electronics, with at least 5 years’ experience in power module design.
  • Proficiency in ECAD computer-aided electronics tools such as PSpice, SIMetrix and Ansys EM and Ansys CFD. Added proficiency in MCAD tools such as Solidworks or PTC Creo is an added advantage.
  • Decisive, strong technical leadership and self-driven to resolve tough engineering challenges.
  • Communication fluency in English is a must.
  • This is a Senior Manager level equivalent individual contributor position on the technical ladder. The final job grade will depend on the candidate’s knowledge and experience.
