About the team and the role:

eBay, Inc. seeks MTS 1, Software Engineer in Bellevue, WA 

What you will accomplish: 
Job Duties: Analyze software architecture, and utilize data to prepare design, and develop robust software applications and features. Design and implement new software and systems compatible with the existing shipping infrastructure within eBay. Create and implement new coding and programming sequences and maintain a cadence of building, testing, and continuously deploying code utilizing experience with design patterns and experience working in a layered architecture. Segment and design system layers to support componentized and layered application development, including business functionality and database access. Work with other engineers, managers, product management, quality assurance, and operations teams to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs concerning functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and alignment with development goals and principles. Estimate engineering effort, plan implementation, and roll out system changes. Identify technical areas for improvement and make detailed business cases for improvements or new areas of opportunity. Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews. Ensure code quality and maintainability by evolving architecture and tech stack, refactoring, standards, and improving build and test systems. Develop automated tests and deliver high-quality software code to production within a software development cycle in the continuous integration and delivery environment. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

What you will bring:
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineer, Information Systems, or a closely related field plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field plus five years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

  • Data structures, Algorithms, Design Patterns, Object Oriented Design  
  • Designing and building highly scalable back-end systems and distributed services  
  • RESTful backend Web Services, JSON, XML 
  • Java, Spring Framework  
  • Relational & Non-Relational Databases such as MongoDB, Oracle; SQL 
  • Distributed publisher/subscriber messaging systems such as Kafka
  • Frontend development using Node.js / HTML / CSS
  • Unit/integration testing (using JUnit/Mockito), Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Observability platforms such as Prometheus/Grafana  
  • Agile development methodologies, CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.  

Salary: $212,202.00-290,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Additional Details

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Skills Required
