Position Overview:
The Ortho Senior Financial Controller CEE (Central Eastern Europe) is a key member of the Med Tech organization responsible for leading and coordinating the financial agenda for the Ortho Business Unit across the Central Eastern Europe region. This role acts as a trusted business partner to the Business Unit Leader and the finance team, ensuring financial health and contributing to strategic decision-making aimed at driving profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Business Partnering and Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the Ortho franchise lead and regional MedTech leadership team, supporting financial decision-making by providing insights and analysis on new business opportunities / market expansions, investment strategies (incl. resource allocation, cost optimization, portfolio review, new products launches, different go to markets models), pricing (incl. tender and commercial offer) and other key projects (e.g. working capital improvement) to drive profitable growth.
- Collaborate with functions such as supply chain and HR to deliver financial insights for innovation and operational efficiency.
- Support market expansions and investment strategies, including resource allocation and portfolio rationalization.
Financial Operations and Risk & Compliance Management:
- Manage the delivery of the P&L for the Ortho Business Unit CEE to ensure financial targets are met while balancing risks and opportunities.
- Conduct thorough analysis and provide actionable insights to drive execution.
- Oversee monthly and quarterly closing activities, working closely with Accounting Organization and regional support teams, ensuring accurate communication with the business and compliance with regulations and internal controls.
Technology and Digital Transformation:
- Lead the adoption of advanced financial analytics, new system implementations, automation, and ERP systems to enhance efficiency.
- Implement predictive analytics for forecasting and develop real-time data reporting dashboards for better decision-making. Foster digital mindset within the team
- Stay updated on industry trends in FinTech and digital transformation.
People Management:
- Foster partnerships with regional finance teams, FP&A CoE, TAX, Global Services Organizations, Treasury, developing a high-performance culture among finance personnel.
- Mentor and lead a team of analysts, promoting accountability and transparency within the team and strong talent agenda across finance community.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field with a recognized professional qualification (e.g., CPA, CFA, ACCA).
- 10+ years of financial experience, preferably within the MedTech, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences industry.
- Experience in or with business unit finance with strong knowledge of the industry dynamics and regulatory frameworks.
- Proven leadership and partnering skills with the ability to influence and drive strategic change (strong interpersonal skills, team player mentality, collaborative working style, excellent communication, influencing and framing skills)
- Strategic thinker with adaptability and resilience mindset, able to balance risk and opportunity and to navigate in the evolving MedTech regulations and market disruptions
- Exceptional financial and analytical skills, results oriented and business performance driven, expertise in financial modelling and capital investment analysis
- Innovations champion to embrace automation and financial transformation with ERP systems experience, financial automation tools and with digital & data-driven mindset to leverage AI and analytics for strategic financial decision-making
- High degree of intellectual curiosity, open minded for changes and new ways of working, with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to deal with complexity and drive outcomes
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in local languages from CEE (ie Czech) is a plus.
