Mr D - Mid-Level Operations Associate

Mr D, a division of the Takealot Group is looking for a highly talented Mid-Level Operations Associate to join our team in Cape Town.

This role reports to the Operations Manager for Food Operations for Mr D.

Responsibilities 

Operational Support and Efficiency:

• Assist in managing day-to-day operations across various business verticals within MrD, contributing to smooth and efficient trade operations.
• Participate in the implementation and refinement of operational processes to boost trading efficiency on the MrD platform.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational processes, using data to inform and guide decisions.
• Familiarity with process improvement methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC

Data Analysis and Reporting:

• Assist in the analysis of operational data to generate insights aimed at improving customer experience and operational workflows.
• Support in collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify performance bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
• Proven track record of identifying and or delivering successful process optimization initiatives.

Teamwork and Development:

• Help manage and resolve payment transaction issues, contributing to a seamless customer transaction process.
• Assist in the investigation of order discrepancies and compile reports on operational challenges and customer feedback.
• Support the mentorship and development of junior operations team members, promoting a culture of growth and learning.

Emergency Management 

• Proactively manage operational emergencies and system failures, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. This includes being prepared to address emergencies during business hours after 5pm and during weekends, ensuring round-the-clock operational resilience.

• Strong analytical ability supported by solid Excel skills, showcasing the capability to dissect data and derive meaningful insights.
• Ability to identify areas of improvement, indicating a proactive stance towards enhancing processes and outcomes.
• Enterprising spirit and ability to take ownership of tasks, reflecting a drive to innovate and lead initiatives.
• Willingness to buy into the requirements of a fast-paced start-up environment, with an understanding that peak activity may occur after traditional hours, highlighting flexibility and dedication.
• Ability to verbalize as well as visualize findings and results, emphasizing the importance of clear and effective communication, both verbally and through visual means. 
• Strong team player, indicating the importance of collaboration and mutual support within a team setting.

Qualifications & Experience 

• Relevant bachelor’s degree in commerce, engineering, finance or related field. 
• At least 3 years’ of experience in operations, particularly in e-commerce, logistics, supply chain, or a related fast-paced industry. 
• Experience in using data analytics to inform operational decisions and improvements.
• Proficiency in analyzing performance metrics to provide insights on operational aspects.
• Proficiency in advanced Excel 
• Knowledge of SQL or Python is advantageous
