Wells Fargo is seeking a Mortgage Underwriting Director.
In this role, you will:
- Manage and develop teams, managers, and professionals in Underwriting with focus on delivering complex services for internal and external stakeholders
- Approve loans in excess of unit or department level authorities
- Ensure conformity with bank policies and procedures
- Monitor delinquency, loss, and risk rating accuracy
- Assist relationship managers with structuring, pricing and documentation of individual loan transactions
- Identify opportunities and strategies for development and improvement in the team functions
- Monitor and review staff loan underwriting and portfolio management performance
- Develop and analyze new business prospects
- Manage on-going account relationships
- Prepare or review reports provided to more experienced management regarding portfolio performance
- Review and approve workout strategies for individual problem loans
- Lead Underwriting team by making strategic decisions to resolve complex problems to meet risky deliverables
- Interpret and develop range of processes for complex tasks
- Collaborate with and influence leadership and professionals
- Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Underwriting
- Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy
- 10+ years of Underwriting experience or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 4+ years of management or leadership experience
- Must have attained a higher level of lending authority in a current or prior management role within the Underwriting function.
- Experience leading leaders and track record of developing leaders into enterprise leaders
- Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with partners across time zones to achieve a common goal
- Lead, coach and manage a team of Underwriting Managers to achieve targeted performance goals for credit quality, customer experience and productivity.
- Manage day to day operations for 7+ underwriting teams working full-time in office or on a hybrid schedule.
- Partner with aligned US Underwriting leaders and other internal Home Lending partners as needed.
- Successfully complete roadmap requirements to earn delegation of authority as the leader of Manila underwriting teams.
- Demonstrate flexibility to work U.S. business hours, with typical shift start times ranging from 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM PHT.
- Report on-site at the designated work location as required.
- Eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, subject to business needs and company policy.
