The Position

Job Description
SUMMARY
This position is directly responsible for assisting in the regulatory compliance related to residential mortgage lending, post closing quality control and pre-funding quality control functions.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Oversee, review, and monitor loans to ensure compliance is adhered to with TILA, RESPA, FCRA and ECOA rules and additional regulations through the pre-funding and post-closing quality control review process. Provides reports and updates on a regular basis on compliance reviews to keep senior management informed and other necessary documentation, or updates. Oversee, review, and monitor the origination system to ensure updates meet regulatory requirements. Maintains current knowledge of all compliance requirements and upcoming changes that impact the residential mortgage lending industry. Ensures that management is informed of frequently occurring errors or if errors exceed the maximum allowable threshold in the pre-funding and post-closing quality control review processes. Proactively provide effective feedback and guidance and support for other Mortgage related compliance issues. Perform Vendor Quality Control Reviews. Perform Quarterly VA IRRRL Quality Control Reviews and maintain reporting. Collaborate with the Marketing Department with reviewing proposed mortgage advertisements to ensure strict adherence and compliance with applicable Federal and state regulations. Other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES
- Performs other duties as requested by Executive Management or Manager.
- Completes all required compliance exams on a yearly basis.
- Adherence to all First United Policies and Procedures.
- Dresses professionally.
- Recommends to supervisor possible methods to improve department.

Education and Work Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in mortgage lending environment required.
- 3 years experience working in a mortgage processing or underwriting position is highly recommended
Technical/Functional Competencies
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal directives
- Ability to articulate ideas and methods to improve overall mortgage compliance metrics
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments
- Ability to managed multiple projects while adhering to strict deadlines
- Demonstrated technical knowledge of Bank, mortgage, Federal and State lending and compliance/regulatory matters
