This role provides architecture leadership across infrastructure, cloud, and cybersecurity domains, partnering closely with Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS), Cloud Engineering, security engineering, and product teams to drive enterprise technology transformation.

Major Responsibilities:

  • As a Modern Infrastructure and Security Architect, Vice President at MUFG, you will define and guide the execution of modern infrastructure and cybersecurity architecture in partnership with Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS), Cloud Engineering, and platform teams across cloud, on‑prem, and hybrid environments.

  • Partner with EIS, Cloud Engineering, security engineering, product managers, architects, engineering leads, and risk stakeholders to identify, evaluate, incubate, and scale infrastructure and security capabilities across the enterprise.

  • Maintain visibility into infrastructure and security capability gaps across all of the bank’s technology pillars to help prioritize remediation, platform investment, and long‑term architectural roadmaps.

  • Establish and evolve target‑state architectures, reference designs, and reusable patterns that enable secure, compliant, and scalable technology delivery.

  • Support the rollout of shared platform and security capabilities through automation, infrastructure‑as‑code, and reliability‑focused design principles aligned with SRE practices.

  • Collaborate with business, risk, and compliance partners to translate regulatory and control requirements into practical, consumable architectural solutions.

  • Act as a strategic architecture partner to EIS and Cloud Engineering, jointly shaping platform roadmaps, onboarding strategies, and security capabilities that balance enterprise standards with delivery realities.

  • Guide cloud and platform onboarding strategies, including secure landing zone architectures, shared services, inherited controls, and integration patterns.

  • Drive integrations and tooling that improve security posture and operational resilience across both cloud and legacy environments.

  • Influence the responsible adoption of emerging technologies, including AI‑enabled capabilities and intelligent automation, within established governance and risk frameworks.

  • Promote modern engineering and operational practices that improve platform resilience, developer experience, and long‑term maintainability.

  • Clearly and concisely communicate complex architectural, technical, and risk tradeoffs to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with and mentor architects and senior engineers, fostering strong architectural thinking, shared ownership, and cross‑team alignment.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in technology architecture, infrastructure engineering, or security engineering, including enterprise‑scale or platform‑oriented solutions.

  • Strong experience designing and governing solutions across AWS, Azure, and/or hybrid enterprise environments.

  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity architecture, risk management, and control‑based design within regulated financial institutions.

  • Experience working in close partnership with infrastructure, cloud, and platform engineering organizations in a matrixed enterprise environment.

  • Familiarity with modern automation, CI/CD enablement, and infrastructure‑as‑code practices.

  • Working knowledge of modern AI and intelligent automation platforms and their architectural implications.

  • Comfortable operating within Agile and hybrid delivery models across complex organizations.

  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex technical, architectural, and organizational challenges and propose pragmatic, iterative solutions.

  • Proven ability to balance security rigor, regulatory expectations, and business delivery needs.

  • Collaborative, solution‑oriented mindset with a focus on enablement, reuse, and long‑term sustainability.
