Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Solutions is building its first India-based modem engineering team in Bangalore, focused on end-to-end modem baseband and platform development in collaboration with global Ericsson teams and Qualcomm partners. This founding team is shaping next-generation enterprise and industrial 5G solutions on advanced SDX-based platforms.
As a Modem Baseband Platform Engineer, you will design, develop, and optimize the low-level modem baseband platform software for SDX-based LGA modem modules. This is a ground-up opportunity to influence platform architecture early, take strong technical ownership, and deliver high-performance, power-efficient 5G modem platforms deployed at a global scale.
What you will do:
- Design and implement baseband platform software architecture for SDX-based modules
- Develop hardware abstraction layers (HAL) for Qualcomm chipset components and peripherals
- Optimize memory management, DMA operations, cache utilization, and power management (DVFS, sleep/wake)
- Develop and optimize interrupt service routines, real-time task scheduling, and DSP firmware integration
- Debug complex HW/SW issues using JTAG, trace tools, and logic analyzers
- Perform performance profiling and optimization across CPU, memory, and power domains
- Collaborate on board bring-up, validation, and create platform documentation
The skills you bring:
- 5+ years embedded baseband/platform development; 3+ years on Qualcomm modem platforms
- Deep expertise in Qualcomm baseband (SDX/MSM series), modem subsystem architecture (DSP, ARM, accelerators)
- Expert-level HAL development and RTOS experience (REX, ThreadX, FreeRTOS)
- Advanced C/C++ for real-time systems; strong memory management and cache optimization skills
- Experience with DMA controllers, interrupt handling, power management, and clock control
- Hardware/software co-design experience and system-level thinking
- Proficiency with JTAG debugging, trace tools, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred:
- SDX82/85/72/65/55 chipsets; Hexagon DSP programming; ARM Cortex-A/R expertise
- Hardware accelerator integration (crypto, compression); bootloader development (U-Boot, LK)
- Thermal management, multi-core synchronization, IPC, AMBA protocols (AHB, AXI)
- PCIe, USB 3.0, UART, SPI, I2C, SDIO driver development
- Lauterbach Trace32, Segger J-Link, ARM DS, profiling tools (gprof, perf)
- Master's degree in Embedded Systems, EE, or CE
