ABOUT THE ROLEWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Mill Manager / Mill Engineer to support the operations of our Palm Kernel Crushing Plant. The successful candidate will play a key role to assist the Mill Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Palm Kernel Crushing Plant, ensuring optimal production performance, maximum oil extraction efficiency, equipment reliability, cost control and full compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITY
2.1 Operation Management
- Assist in managing day-to-day plant operations, including kernel crushing, pressing, oil extraction, and product handling.
- Ensure production targets for CPKO and PKE are achieved.
- Monitor plant throughput, efficiency, and operational performance.
- Ensure smooth coordination between shifts and departments.
2.2 Process Optimization
- Optimize oil extraction rate (OER) and minimize residual oil losses in PKE.
- Monitor and adjust process parameters (temperature, pressure, screw press settings).
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost efficiency.
2.3 Maintenance & Engineering
- Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and minimize downtime.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams and contractors.
- Ensure proper spare parts management and inventory control.
2.4 Quality Control
- Ensure CPKO and PKE meet required quality specifications (FFA, moisture, impurities, residual oil).
- Work closely with laboratory personnel to monitor product quality.
- Implement corrective actions for deviations.
2.5 Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Enforce safety policies, procedures, and safe working practices.
- Conduct risk assessments and toolbox meetings.
- Ensure compliance with DOSH, DOE, and other regulatory requirements.
- Promote a strong safety culture within the plant.
2.6 Manpower Supervision
- Supervise operators, technicians, and shift supervisors.
- Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training.
- Ensure discipline, teamwork, and productivity.
- Assist in manpower planning and performance evaluation.
2.7 Cost Control & Efficiency
- Monitor and control operational costs (energy, chemicals, maintenance).
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement efficiency initiatives.
- Optimize resource utilization (steam, electricity, water).
- Assist the Procurement and Finance department with smooth transition work.
2.8 Compliance & Certification
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 37001, RSPO, MSPO, GMP+, and Phytosanitary standards, MPOB, Environmental Act, Factory & Machinery Act, and Labour Act and company standards.
- Assist in audit preparation and documentation.
- Maintain accurate operational records and reports.
2.9 Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
- Monitor KPIs such as OER, downtime, plant efficiency, and losses.
- Report operational issues and improvement plans to the Mill Manager.
2.10 Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Support plant upgrades, expansions, and automation projects.
- Participate in continuous improvement programs.
- Implement best practices and new technologies where applicable.
- Suggest any subject/idea for sustainability and improvement for better future.

- Strong knowledge of crushing plant processes and equipment from experience candidate.
- A good knowledge of Palm Kernel Crushing or Palm Oil Mill industries from fresh graduates.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Good problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Advance in communication and teamwork.
- Familiarity with MSPO/RSPO/Quality and Safety standards is an added advantage.
- Able to work in a fast-paced and 24/7 operational environment.
- Exposure to industrial environment (heat, noise, machinery).
- Able and willing to mobilise to any base if required.
