Migration Specialist / Java Developer with flair for data

About the role

Over the past years we have transformed our core policy systems into the standard policy management system – Guidewire - and thousands of policies have already been migrated. But the journey continues, and the migration will continue over several more years with potential more legacy systems being added to the migration scope.

Today, the migration team is heavily staffed by external consultants, and it has been decided to supplement this work force with a strong internal team.

In the Migration team you will be responsible for conducting test and production migrations in the monthly cycle. This requires a lot of control over the process and high level of detective skills to identify sources of errors. You will also need to design and implement changes to the migration engine, and document process and changes.

In summary, your main responsibilities will be:

• Execution of migration on monthly basis
• Detection and resolution of bugs
• Documentation

About the team

You will be part of a newly formed team with Solution Architect, Tester and 3 Developers, working closely together with Product Owners, Scrum Masters and Business Analysts.

Who are you?

We imagine you have 3-5 years of experience as a Java Developer on big migration projects, preferably in the insurance industry. Exposure to Gosu (Guidewire) is a plus.

In addition, we expect you to have experience in:

• Database & SQL: Solid understanding of relational databases with proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries.
• ETL & Integration: Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and data migration/integration processes.
• Data Handling & Analysis: Interest in data analysis with prior experience in creating, managing, and extracting data from databases.
• Working in Azure DevOps and in Agile environments.

We also expect you to have a collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn and communicate openly.
