Mid-Level Backend Engineer

As a mid-level Backend Engineer, you’ll join a dynamic team of highly skilled engineers who are building the core platform features and services driving our rapidly growing company. We continuously improve both our product and our craft. The Backend team focuses on developing world-class services and integrations while ensuring our apps are secure, high-performing, and scalable. We’re looking for a Backend Engineer excited about planning and developing our future critical systems on the Fieldwire Platform while keeping our current customers happy!

• Design, build, and maintain our production services at scale.
• Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack to deliver an outstanding user experience.
• Work closely with the product team to create innovative, simple-to-use, and technically challenging features.
• Develop seamless integrations between Fieldwire and external services/partners to maximize our platform’s value for customers.
• Actively participate in daily discussions on technical architecture topics with the team.
• Release a rapidly growing API while ensuring 100% backward compatibility.
• Build services with efficient auto-scaling to handle both peak and non-peak loads.
• Improve Fieldwire’s engineering standards, tooling, and processes.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years of production web application experience.
• Proficiency in modern web application development and relational databases.
• Ability to write clean, well-tested, and modular code that colleagues can also own, understand, and maintain.
• Experience with algorithms and data structures.

• Experience with Ruby on Rails and its ecosystem.
• Experience working with high-traffic web applications and services.
• Familiarity with Docker and containerization.
• Knowledge of AWS.

This role is based in France. While we have an office in Paris, this position offers the flexibility to work from home. We prioritize talent over location, so we are open to candidates working from anywhere in France.
