What this role is all about
As a Backend Software Engineer, you’ll join one of several engineering teams at Infobip, each solving unique challenges and contributing to our global platform. While the exact team will be determined during the interview process, here’s a glimpse into some of the areas you might work in:
CPaaS Messaging Infrastructure: Work on the core systems that power Infobip’s messaging platform—handling billions of interactions across global data centers. You’ll build scalable microservices and contribute to both backend and frontend components.
RCS (Rich Communication Services): Help scale one of Infobip’s fastest-growing OTT channels, processing hundreds of millions of messages daily. You’ll optimize distributed systems, improve connectivity and security, and support global RCS adoption.
Platform SMS Team: Develop and optimize the backbone of Infobip’s messaging infrastructure, ensuring high performance and reliability across all channels. You’ll tackle system-level challenges like fault tolerance, observability, and scalability at massive scale.
Telco (Messaging Firewall): Build AI-powered fraud protection systems for Mobile Network Operators, analyzing millions of messages in real time. You’ll work with machine learning, NLP, and analytics to detect and block spam, phishing, and other fraudulent traffic across high-throughput systems.
What you’ll do
Develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot
Build scalable, distributed systems operating across global data centers
Participate in agile ceremonies including standups, planning, and retrospectives
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical direction and sprint goals
Engage in system design, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives
(depending on team) Contribute to frontend development using TypeScript and React
What makes you a strong fit
At least 3+ years of software development experience, ideally in backend or full-stack focused roles
Proficiency in Java (we use Java 21+) and familiarity with Spring and Spring Boot development
Good knowledge and understanding of object-oriented principles, data structures and algorithms
Experience working with concurrent and multi-tier applications
Recognizing the value of code reviews and experience with unit and integration testing
Good understanding of RESTful services
Fluency in English, both written and spoken
Nice-to-have qualifications
Familiar with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git, Maven, Canary or similar
Understanding of databases and data management tools like Postgres, MSSQL, Redis, Kafka
Worked with collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Slack
Ready to adopt, implement or propose new technologies
Experience in technologies such as React (TypeScript), Docker, Prometheus, Grafana, or others
