What You'll Be Doing
- Operate, troubleshoot, service and maintain cryogenic equipment (scroll pumps, turbo pumps, cryo compressors, high vacuum valves/cold traps) including helium leak test procedures, pump rebuilds, and thermal system management
- Assemble, validate and install complex electro-mechanical, cryogenic, vacuum and RF systems with superb attention to detail
- Test and debug custom control systems in the form of validation testing on advanced RF components using electronic equipment such as network analyzers, DMMs, and tools developed in-house
- Participate in test plan development and execution in support of next-generation RF hardware
- Support cryogenic systems on-call in rotation with other members of the Engineering Operations team
- Prepare, inspect and package quantum chip assemblies for testing
- Follow established documents/procedures and create/adapt them as needed
- Read and understand CAD drawings and engineering specifications
- Support external system installations, working directly with customers and partners (travel up to 10%)
What You Bring to the Table
- BS degree or equivalent in Physics, Engineering or equivalent industrial or military experience (MS, PhD nice to have)
- Substantial lab experience working with sub-Kelvin cryogenic equipment.
- Fluency with statistical methods for Test (Six Sigma, DOE, simulation, etc.)
- Experience working with and maintaining large equipment of high availability systems
- Proficiency with a variety of general-purpose electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, network analyzers, multimeters, dc power supplies, etc.).
- Experience assembling, servicing, and maintaining scientific instruments and/or complex electro-mechanical assemblies
- Experience with dilution refrigerators or other cryogenic systems a strong plus
- Programming experience in Python or related scripting languages is a strong plus
- Experience with industrial lab equipment including vacuum plumbing, P&ID, and standard fittings and methods
- Experience communicating with external vendors
- Excellent communication, documentation and troubleshooting skills

What We Do
Rigetti Computing is building the world’s most powerful computers to help solve humanity’s most pressing and important problems. These systems will perform computations that today’s fastest supercomputers are incapable of — unlocking entirely new classes of problems and offering a direct path to solutions. We believe quantum computing is going to significantly affect health care, how we treat disease, how we generate energy, and how we feed humanity. Our superconducting quantum computing systems are available over the cloud via Rigetti Quantum Cloud Services.
We were founded in 2013 by Chad Rigetti. We are located in Berkeley and Fremont, California, and have employees based all over the world.
