Job Description

WHAT'S THE ROLE

Microsoft 365 is more than a set of tools. It’s where people collaborate, share knowledge, automate work and increasingly use AI to get things done.

As our Microsoft 365 Engineer, you’ll help shape how those capabilities work across Dexterra. You’ll take ownership of the administration and continuous improvement of our Microsoft 365 environment, with a focus on SharePoint Online, Microsoft Copilot, Intune, Entra ID, collaboration services and automation.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

This is a hands-on engineering role with broad organizational impact. You’ll turn business and security requirements into practical solutions, strengthen governance, solve complex platform challenges and help teams adopt Microsoft 365 and AI-enabled tools responsibly.

  • Shape our Microsoft 365 environment. Administer and improve Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Intune, Entra ID and related services.
  • Enable responsible Copilot adoption. Manage configuration, licensing, policies and governance around data access, privacy, security and compliance.
  • Improve SharePoint and content governance. Strengthen site architecture, taxonomy, metadata, permissions and lifecycle management while reducing content sprawl and oversharing.
  • Strengthen security and compliance. Support Conditional Access, role-based access, DLP, sensitivity labels, retention, information protection and Microsoft Purview.
  • Automate and simplify. Build and support PowerShell scripts, Power Platform solutions, Microsoft Graph and REST API integrations that improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Solve complex problems. Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 engineering support for incidents, platform changes and escalations.
  • Support growth and transformation. Contribute to tenant migrations, acquisitions and integrations across identity, endpoints, collaboration and content.
  • Partner across the business. Translate requirements into practical Microsoft 365 solutions and provide technical guidance to stakeholders, junior technical staff and Service Desk teams.

Qualifications

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You’re an experienced Microsoft 365 professional who enjoys being hands-on with the technology while thinking beyond configuration to security, governance, user experience and business impact. You’re comfortable solving complex problems, working independently and explaining technical concepts to both technical and business audiences.

  • A degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science, Business Technology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Typically 5+ years of progressive Microsoft 365 administration and engineering experience in an enterprise environment, including strong hands-on SharePoint Online experience.
  • Strong experience with Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, Entra ID, Conditional Access, role-based access and enterprise permission models.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 governance and compliance, including DLP, sensitivity labels, retention, information protection and Microsoft Purview.
  • Working knowledge of Intune, endpoint management and Windows, iOS and Android environments.
  • Intermediate PowerShell skills and familiarity with Microsoft Graph and REST APIs.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, documentation and stakeholder-management skills.

BONUS POINTS FOR: Experience with Microsoft Copilot and enterprise AI governance, Microsoft certifications such as MS-102, Power Platform, ServiceNow, Azure, GitHub or other source control, and tenant migrations or large-scale Microsoft 365 transformations.
