The role
In this role you’ll be the data expert with the ability to undertake commercial conversations with key stakeholders, to support the UK claims leadership move to data led decision making. You’ll work with the UK Claims Teams responding to data needs and ensuring regular insights reporting is delivered. You’ll also work with a wide variety of stakeholders and business analysts to help deliver key projects.
You’ll act as an ambassador for the group data asset “matrix” ensuring consistent reporting that adheres to the data standards set centrally. Alongside the Claims Data and Insights Lead you’ll act as a key SME regarding data on all change related projects to help support the business case and track the benefits.
You’ll be an expert in data and someone who enjoys building strong relationships by understanding the business needs and influencing key stakeholders at all levels.
What You’ll be doing
- Maintaining and delivering UK Claims reporting needs using PowerBI as the primary visualisation tool
- Acting as primary support for UK Claims teams to meet their data requirements
- Driving high quality & accurate data and MI outputs that will be used to make critical business decisions
- Working with senior management to capture requirements, facilitate discussions and implement these changes
- Ensuring consistent preparation of reporting while maintaining data standards
- Participating in Hiscox UK projects where data is required to support or evidence the benefit of planned operational change
- Responding to all ad-hoc requests alongside a portfolio of regular reporting
- Managing regulatory reporting needs and respond within regulated timeframes
- Identifying and challenging the business to take opportunities in advanced analytics, data usage and offer solutions on delivery
- Acting as an ambassador for claims data across the business – ultimately helping the business stakeholders turn business problems into business solutions
- Gathering, analysing and defining data business requirements to be handed to the technical business analyst to produce the technical specification
Our must haves
- SME knowledge of technology architectures & processes involved in the transfer of data
- Experience in delivering insights through the creation of KPI’s or dashboards with PowerBI being a preferred technology
- Up-to-date knowledge of data privacy & security standards in an Insurance context
- Experience working with Data Warehouse technologies (Ideally Databricks)
- Understanding of Public Cloud platforms (Ideally Azure)
- Understanding of Continuous improvement and agile methodology
- Strong understanding and experience writing SQL
- Proven experience driving a data strategy and change & improvement in business processes, especially related to data and MI
- Can work in partnership with other technical areas of the business such as Data Scientists to drive the use of modelling, automation and analytics.
- Has strong problem-solving abilities, including an ability to take a “deep dive” into the details of the business.
- Can align analytical outputs with key business requirements and priorities
- Experience influencing and building relationships with stakeholders at all levels and across geographies
